AFL $50,000+ Sunday Line-Up

It is yet another Draftstars Sunday and is there a better way to end the weekend than to share in $50,000? The games on offer may not be ones for the time vault, but there are certainly some handy Draftstars players on offer to give us some vested interest for these one-sided affairs.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $50,000+ Sunday competition

Forward

Jack Steele ($11,950)

This guy couldn’t buy a minute on the park last week, reduced to a staggering 48% time-on-ground for the first half. Alan Richardson should be a bit friendlier to Steele this week with Jack Stevens on the sidelines. Steele thrives in the contest and this was evident in Round 1, posting 94 Draftstars points.

Jarryd Roughead ($10,250)

The big Rough has looked solid without dominating since his return, averaging 76 Draftstars points per game. Up against the Suns this weekend, we might just see the Roughead of old shine through. If he can get 3+ majors on the board, he should be able to get around a ton for our sides. Don’t think there will be much Steven May can do to stop him, especially if they get pumped in the fashion they did last week.

Midfield

Tom Mitchell ($16,000)

Tom Mitchell gets disposals for fun – it has been confirmed. The new Hawks recruit has amassed scores of 126 and 125 Draftstars points in his first two matches from an average of 37.5 touches a game, making him the leading disposal getter in the league. I see this being no different when he comes up against the Suns in humid conditions, where scrappy play and repeat stoppages should enable Titch to get around the 40 disposal mark. Draftstars lock for Sunday in my eyes.

Dyson Heppell ($14,500)

Dyson Heppell has been all class in 2017, stepping up to the plate as Essendon skipper. Hepp has averaged 126 points per game, largely due to his 156 Draftstars points in Round 1. Despite failing to notch tons in his past two matches against the Blues, I have a feeling he is going to have a big one on Sunday afternoon. This looms as a bit of a danger game for the Dons, but a dominant performance from the captain should get them over the line.

Jaeger O’Meara ($10,650)

Jaeger’s stats were laughable last weekend, gathering 36 disposals yet managing just 83 Draftstars points. Now that’s not good fantasy. This was due to 30 of his disposals being handballs, but I expect JOM to have a lot more time and space against the battling Suns. Considering it’s his old side, O’Meara will be looking to put on a good showing against the team who he walked out on. Don’t think his former teammates will be too nice to him, though.

Hugh McCluggage ($7,650)

For most of last year, this kid was touted as the number one pick and for good reason – he is a jet. He possesses ripping goal sense and oozes class, which is why Brisbane have brought the youngster back from his injury after just the one NEAFL game. McCluggage didn’t exactly set the world on fire in the JLT, so a score of 60-80 should be expected – a score you that is optimal for his price – but there is every chance he could rise above this mark.

Defence

Kade Kolodjashnij ($11,300)

The former first round draft pick is a good scrabble hand and had a good one last week, racking up 108 Draftstars points from his 27 disposals and 11 marks. Kolodjashnij appears to be the Suns trusted kicker out of defence, and looking at their first two rounds, the ball may be destined to spend the majority of time down there this weekend. KK looms as a value option for our defence if he can notch up another formidable total.

Caleb Marchbank ($7,050)

Marchbank has been a shining light for the Blues and looks like a future star of the competition. The 20 year old is averaging an impressive 79 Draftstars points per game, which is significant considering his $7k pricetag. Marchbank is an attacking defender who takes intercept marks, so young Caleb should be able to produce another 60+ with ease.

Ruck

Jarrod Witts ($10,100)

Jarrod Witts have stamped himself firmly as the number one ruckman for the Suns. Witts was one of the few players who turned up to Spotless Stadium last weekend, claiming 17 disposals, 27 hitouts and a goal on his way to 90 Draftstars points. Up against Ben McEvoy, I would back Witts to have a field-day. He should also win the around-the-ground battle too, making him an nice cheap option who has the potential to ton up.
