NRL $3,000+ Wests Tigers v Rabbitohs Line-Up

Thirteenth on the ladder plays fourteenth this Friday night, as South Sydney look to arrest a three game slide against the reinvigorated Tigers. The boys from the joint-venture have been impressive in recent weeks, but the Bunnies will be looking to exact revenge after losing to the Tigers in round one.

Here is a team you may consider for the NRL $3,000+ West Tigers v Rabbitohs competition

Front Row Forward

Sam Burgess ($15,350)

Even though he is expensive, Burgess is one of the best premium options available and is the only forward capable of scoring over 60. He comes up against a Tigers pack that has lost its best forward in Aaron Woods and was already one of the weakest in the competition, which gives him the perfect chance to impose himself on the game. Expect him to rack up some huge running numbers and a few tackle breaks as he should monster the Tigers in this contest.

Sauaso Sue ($10,000)

Sue has been solid off the bench in the past few weeks and will be given an opportunity to cement himself as a starting front-rower in the next few weeks. This should lead to an increase in his minutes, which naturally will mean an increase in his Draftstars scoring. The Bunnies will be looking to attack with the Burgess boys through the middle, which will give Sue plenty of opportunities to boost his tackling numbers.

Hooker

Jacob Liddle ($5,000)

As long as he’s named on the bench when final teams come out, Liddle is the best option available at hooker. Both Damien Cook and Robbie Farah take minutes away from each other, which makes them too uncertain given their price tag, whilst Matt McIlwrick played less minutes than Liddle last round and is unreliable at the best of times. This means that taking the cheapest option – Liddle will save you over $7k on Farah and Cook – could be the best play in order to generate cash elsewhere. Hopefully Liddle’s immense tackling pressure from last round will be replicated and he can approximate the scoring of the more expensive guys.

Second Row Forward

Elijah Taylor ($14,100)

With concerns over Angus Crichton’s playing time and John Sutton’s consistency, Taylor is the best option available. The consistency of the lock is impressive and it largely comes on the back of his massive tackling efforts, including 97 combined tackles in the last two rounds. He doesn’t offer a huge upside due to his mediocre running game and the Tigers reluctance to use him as a ball player, but his tackling alone should guarantee a score of at least 40 and potentially up to 60.

Kyle Turner ($9,000)

Although he’s been played out of position in the front-row for a majority of the season, Turner has been solid for the Rabbits. In a contest where it is tough to find cash generation, Turner is a good option at a middling price. From round two to round eight, Turner managed to score between 33 and 45 Draftstars points each round, so it is reasonable to expect a similar output in this game. The key will be his tackling, which had been consistent until last round, when he missed seven tackles in what was an off day for the usually consistent forward.

Centre

Hymel Hunt ($7,050)

Hunt has provided some much needed spark to the Bunnies’ backline since returning in round eight and will move into the centres this week after Robert Jennings was dropped. This will lead to an improvement in his tackling numbers which naturally dipped in his two games on the wing, which also gives him a higher basement for his scoring. Hunt will also be used as a ball runner, which will result in solid metres and if he can manage to find the try line as he did last round, he will end up a massive score. At just over $7k, he’s an absolute lock in a poor group of centres.

Half

Cody Walker ($13,250)

An abundance of injuries saw Walker used all over the park when these two teams met in round one, but Walker still managed to assist two of the three tries scored by South Sydney, which resulted in 50.55 Draftstars points. Back in his customary five-eighth role, Walker has shown the ability to make match winning plays and has been a key contributor in the three wins for Souths this year. In fact, he’s averaging 61.31 Draftstars points in wins, so if the Rabbitohs win as expected there is every chance it is on the back of a big performance from Walker. Considering it should be a fairly open game and Walker thrives in such situations, he is definitely the pick of the halves.

Wing/Fullback

James Tedesco ($13,350)

Tedesco is the only outside back available that can cost you this contest if you don’t have him. He’s already scored over 60 Draftstars points three times this season, including a massive score of 87.30 in round one against the Rabbitohs. In that game, Teddy managed to score a try and assist on two others, whilst also managing to assist three game changing line breaks. Add to this that he is a tackle breaking machine and it is clear that he is the best option available.

David Nofoaluma ($12,500)

Nofoaluma has been one of the Tigers’ best players all season, so it was no surprise to see them lose last week as he had a down game. His ball running has been phenomenal this season and it has resulted in an average of 174 metres per game and 6.7 tackle breaks per game. This has seen Nofo become a prolific scorer and a consistent threat to break the defensive line and score a try. Against the Bunnies, whose edge defence is shaky at the best of times, Nofo should be in for a massive performance.
