AFL $30,000+ Sunday Line-Up

The day is finally here. The day the AFL’s China experiment comes to fruition. Considering China’s massive footy fan base, it’s going to be a groundbreaking moment in the history of sport in China – especially since its the first time sport has been played in the nation… apparently. Again there’s no shortage of options so get amongst another Draftstars’ Sunday

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $30,000+ Sunday competition

Forward

Isaac Heeney ($12,600)

Isaac Heeney is back in a big way. Although the blonde bombshell admits he hasn’t fully recovered from glandular fever, he has scored back-to-back tons in the past two weeks, scoring 120 and 102 Draftstars points against Carlton and Brisbane respectively. The Heen-machine comes up against a better side in North Melbourne on Sunday afternoon, but I still see him scoring highly considering his new midfield role.

Daniel Rioli ($7,500)

Daniel Rioli has averaged just the 51 Draftstars points this season, but two of his best scores of the year have come in the past three weeks. Rioli is currently sporting a three round average of 57 points, including scores of 72 and 60. Fremantle’s small defenders do have a tendency to get out run by pacey opponents, and I expect to see Rioli do this on Sunday. Should snag two or three and get a solid total for his price.

Midfield

Jake Lloyd ($13,250)

I have opted to go a bit cheap with my first midfielder in order to stack up on mid priced options elsewhere. Jakey Lloyd has had a very promising Draftstars season to date, averaging 101 Draftstars points per game. Lloyd has epitomised consistency with a low score of 87 in 2017, making him a pretty sure bet for Sunday afternoon.

Nat Fyfe ($13,150)

I went with Nathaniel Fyfe last week at a slightly more elevated price ($13.2k) than this week, and he reached a reasonable total of 95 Draftstars points. The star is in a bit of a rut at the minute, failing to reach a ton since Round 3. Fyfe’s dry streak should end this weekend against the Tigers, who he scored 113 points against in his last meeting with them.

Shaun Higgins ($12,450)

Shaun Higgins has had a very impressive season playing more through the midfield, averaging 93.5 Draftstars points per game – including 97 in his past three. He has loved playing on the Etihad Stadium turf this season (that’s not something you’re used to hearing!), with both his tons in 2017 coming at the venue. Higgins hasn’t marred any Draftstars contests with a mid-game injury this year. It has only been seven rounds, though…

Ryan Clarke ($8,800)

Ryan Clarke has played the two games for the Roos in 2017 for a respectable average of 67.5 Draftstars points. Clarke scored 77 points in North Melbourne shock smashing of the Crows, claiming 19 disposals and booting a goal. Last week saw Clarke spending stints between the forward line and the midfield, making him a decent option at $8,800. Probably the best cheapie midfielder on offer.

Defence

Zak Jones ($11,800)

Not to toot my own horn, but I backed Zak Jones last weekend and he scored 101 Draftstars points… so, why not back him in again? Jones had 27 disposals, six clearances and a goal in the Swans thumping win over the Dogs. Can’t see the Roos locking him down with the likes of Hannebery, Kennedy and Parker to contend with. Has been getting more midfield time and is good value for money.

Darcy Byrne-Jones ($9,000)

In my eyes, Darcy Byrne-Jones is a carbon copy of Jasper Pittard. He has a good kick, he breaks the lines and he even has long black hair, just like Jasper the friendly ghost. DBJ is averaging 66 Draftstars points per game this season, including three scores exceeding 85. Two of these have been in the past three weeks. The only issue is, twice he has scored in the 30’s… Despite this, I’m backing DBJ to perform admirably in Shanghai.

Ruck

Aaron Sandilands ($11,350)

Aaron Sandilands may not be getting much of the footy, but he is absolutely annihilating his opposition in the ruck. The man mountain is averaging a whopping 48 hitouts per game – eclipsing 50 in his past four games – and considering each hitout is worth one point, it is ensuring he gets solid totals. Sandi comes up against Nank the Tank on the weekend, who isn’t exactly the best hit-out ruckman. I’d expect the seven-foot beast to get at least 50, or maybe even 60 hitouts this weekend.
