AFL $30,000+ Sunday Line-Up
It’s not often you select your whole side with $0 remaining. Maybe it’s a sign that this line-up is destined for greatness? Maybe not, but there is certainly a bit of value in this one. There are also a few interesting games for us to keep our eye on as well.
Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $30,000+ Sunday competition
Forward
Michael Walters ($11,900)
Michael Walters played one of the best games of his career last week, scoring a once-in-a-blue-moon total of 139 Draftstars points. While he’s not going to score this every week, he should spend some more time in the midfield as he did last week. His 38 disposals last week and his 26 touches the week before suggest Ross Lyon will give him more opportunity in the guts.
Fraser McInnes ($7,800)
Fraser McInnes would be described by most as a list clogger, but has found himself in the Eagles side due to their ruck-crisis. McInnes is now West Coast’s second ruck and was more than solid last week scoring 74 Draftstars points. Even got the 15 hitouts but admittedly, he was up against Tom Boyd. Leuenberger certainly isn’t the best ruckman in the league so I see Fraser provide some value.
Midfield
Marc Murphy ($14,750)
Murphy has been one of the best Draftstars scorers for the 2017 season. Murph is averaging a whopping 119 Draftstars points and has failed to reach the ton on just one occasion (97 in Round 5). He comes up against the Dockers who have been using Connor Blakely as a tagger, but I think Murph should still have a significant impact. Can’t be stopped at the minute – he’s running hot.
Clayton Oliver ($13,500)
Has this guy been the biggest surprise packet of this season? Like Murphy, Oliver has been Mr Dependable this Draftstars season, dipping under 95 points just once in 2017. The Roos aren’t the greatest opposition, and the handball happy Oliver should be able to rack up plenty of clearances and tackles at the MCG on Sunday afternoon. Weather is 19 and sunny which is a bit of a worry…
Dom Sheed ($10,400)
Dom Sheed was very impressive in the Coasters win over the Bulldogs last week. Sheed collected 23 disposals and booted two goals on route to 103 Draftstars points, his first ton for the season (stranded on 99 on another occasion as well). He is susceptible to the odd 40 but I reckon he’ll be full of confidence after his efforts last weekend. Certainly has the talent to justify his price, just whether it will be one of his good weeks.
David Myers ($8,300)
David Myers hasn’t hit his straps just yet in his first two games since 2015. Myers racked up 18 disposals for 63 Draftstars points last week, following his paltry score of 41 in his return. By my logic (not statistically backed), this means Myers will get a score in the 80’s against West Coast this weekend. Even if he doesn’t, he is the best bet for a midfield cheapie at a price of $8.3k.
Defence
Tom McDonald ($11,800)
Tom McDonald has been somewhat of a revelation over the past three weeks. Since Spencer has gone down, McDonald has averaged 96 Draftstars points, spending time in the ruck as well as forward. Managed to snag a couple of goals last week against the Crows, and should play this role against the Roos. One who has plenty of potential and value playing a different position.
Ed Vickers-Willis ($7,000)
Ed Vickers-Willis has fared alright in his three matches to date, averaging 52 Draftstars points including his best performance of 66 points last week. Sometimes you just have to target the bargain options!
Ruck
Todd Goldstein ($14,550)
Goldstein would have opened up the paper on Friday morning and chuckled to himself seeing Tom McDonald as Melbourne’s listed ruck. Goldy should have an absolute field day on Sunday afternoon, especially considering he looks to be back in form. The big man has scored three 90’s in the trot, averaging 36 hit-outs in these matches. Goldy really should take advantage of this situation and he appears to be the obvious ruck pick this Sunday.
