Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $25,000+ Dockers v Magpies competition

Forward

Lachie Weller ($11,400)

You can see why Lachie Weller was a first round draft pick from his performances over the past two weeks. Lyon has played Weller solely as a midfielder over this period to great effect, with the youngster averaging 28 disposals and 100 Draftstars points. The most impressive thing about Weller was his 30 disposals and two goals in a hundred-point loss last week, a sign that the kid can definitely play. Great Draftstars POD for this one.

Jamie Elliott ($11,400)

Jamie Elliott is faring better than his 76 Draftstars point average suggests. The returning Pie has registered five 80+ totals from his seven games, with two poor scores of 34 (in his first game back) and 53 (third game back) affecting his price. He hit the ton last weekend booting four goals and I see no reason why he can’t get to that mark again on Sunday.

Midfield

Scott Pendlebury ($16,250)

There is a bit of a phenomenon occurring with this bloke, and that is Jax Pendlebury. Young Jax was born two weeks ago and since then, Pendles has reached bumper scores of 144 and 125. The week preceding Jax being brought into the world, Pendlebury failed to hit the ton. Foolproof. Pendles to hit another big score against the Dockers.

Steele Sidebottom ($14,900)

Steele Sidebottom has been scoring fairly well this season despite using the ball much more poorly. Hardarse is averaging 104 Draftstars points per game in 2017 and managed his highest score for the year last week against the Lions, winning 34 disposals en route to 139 points, has scored a ton in all but three games, and is more than capable of punching out a grand total.

Nat Fyfe ($12,700)

Nat Fyfe has had a disappointing season by his lofty standards, averaging just the 92 Draftstars points in 2017. The Docker star has not reached a Draftstars ton in over two months, causing his price to dip significantly. In my eyes, something has got to give eventually. While I have picked him multiple times when he has failed, he is just too irresistible at his price of $12.7k. I’d expect Levi Greenwood to go to either Lachie Neale or Brad Hill over the out-of-form gun.

Ben Crocker ($6,400)

Ben Crocker makes his way back into the Collingwood side after some strong VFL form. Crocker played 10 games for the Pies last season, managing an average of just 42 Draftstars points. Another pre-season will have done the world of good for young Benjamin, and he should be able to produce a decent total for us on Sunday. Had a high score of 65 in last game of 2017, so hopefully he continues as he finished 2016.

Defence

Matthew Scharenberg ($9,150)

Matthew Scharenberg finally played his first game Pies in 2017 and was solid, getting 16 touches, seven marks and 67 Draftstars points. Scharenberg is a good kick of the footy and booted the ball on 10 occasions last weekend, a sign that his kick to handball ratio should continue to be favourable. I’d expect Scharenburg to get us another score around the 60-70 mark, but he has the potential to go larger.

Luke Ryan ($6,400)

When it was announced on Friday afternoon that Luke Ryan would debut, fantasy footy players across the land rejoiced. Ryan was hyped as one of the prime rookie selections at the beginning of the season, but due to injury and Ross Lyon hasn’t been given an opportunity until now. There are big wraps on the mature ager, touted for his intercepting marking and efficiency by foot. Is a no brainer selection considering he is cheap as chips.

Ruck

Aaron Sandilands ($11,100)

Aaron Sandilands will return for the Dockers (barring a failed last minute fitness test) after missing the Crows shellacking last week. The man-mountain has been a reasonable Draftstars scorer this season, going at 83 points per game. Coming up against Grundy this weekend, I’d expect Sandi to dominate the hitouts. Around the ground he may struggle, but he should get around the same amount of points as Grundy.
