AFL $25,000+ Demons v Swans Line-Up

Thursday night footy is gone, replaced by either The Front Bar or The Footy Show (I’d be leaning towards TFB personally). Instead, these teams are facing each other on Friday night and what a cracking contest this will be. Both sides got over the line via a goal in the dying seconds last week, so it will be interesting to see which team capitulates in this one.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $25,000+ Demons v Swans competition

Forward

Christian Petracca ($10,500)

Christian Petracca has had a reasonable season playing majority forward, averaging 76 Draftstars points per game. His past two games have been fairly mediocre from a Draftstars point of view however, posting totals in the 60’s against West Coast and the Bulldogs. Trac returns to the MCG, where the young bull claimed best on ground honours in the Dees last match there. His love for deep house is another plus for mine.

Mitch Hannan ($8,500)

Mitch Hannan has really lifted his Draftstars standing over the past month, scoring four 70+ scores in his past three matches. The mature age recruit from Footscray had three scores below 50 earlier in the year but now is consistently hitting the scoreboard. Hannan doesn’t mind the G’ either, booting three goals in two of his last three games there. Some value here at $8.5k.

Midfield

Isaac Heeney ($13,650)

People continue to question whether Isaac Heeney’s early season glandular fever will impact him at some point, but the blond bombshell continues to go from strength to strength. Heeney is averaging an impressive 115 Draftstars points in his past three games, including a big total of 122 against the Bombers. The thing about the Heen-machine is he doesn’t need a big possession tally because he loves to kick and tackle, averaging 14 kicks and five tackles per game. Safe bet.

Jake Lloyd ($13,300)

Speaking of a safe bet, how much does Jake Lloyd love to rack up pill? Lloyd is averaging 28 touches and seven marks across half-back for the Swannies in 2017 and is now clearly the most trusted ball-user for the red and the white. After his injury-affected score of 2 against Hawthorn, Lloyd has repaid the faith averaging 110 Draftstars points in his next three games. Goes up from $11.5-13k this week, but still worth it in my eyes.

Bernie Vince ($11,300)

Bernie Vince has had an up and down season while playing different roles for the Demons side. We have seen Vince tag players in the midfield and also across half-back, with the experienced Dee spending more time in defence of late. Last week Bernie amassed 27 disposals (18 kicks) and laid five tackles on his way to 110 points. Spent time in defence and also drifted through the midfield, and if he plays this role on Friday night he is massive value.

George Hewett ($9,000)

George Hewett didn’t do a tagging job last week like he had the previous fortnight, but still managed to get 64 Draftstars points against the Bombers. There isn’t a great deal of cheap options available in the midfield, so I’d say Hewett at $9k with an average of 73 points is our best bet. Do us proud, George!

Defence

Zak Jones ($11,250)

Zak Jones has been very up and down this Draftstars season, with his last weeks telling that tale. Jones scored an emphatic 119 against the Hawks, followed it up with a paltry total of 54 against the Bulldogs and then scored 88 against the Tigers a fortnight ago. Oh, and then he got suspended and missed last week. Anyway, I am backing Jones to respond with a strong showing after being forced to watch from the sidelines a week ago.

Heath Grundy ($9,300)

Heath Grundy is BACK in my Draftstars line-up for another week. I said I was breaking my golden fantasy rule of no key position defenders, but I’m doing it again after the big man posted 93 Draftstars points last week. Try and stop me. My logic last week that Grundy was coming up against an undermanned Bombers attack without Hooker, and this week he faces a Demon side still without Hogan and Watts. Will set you back about a grand more than last week, but is a decent POD selection.

Ruck

Max Gawn ($12,950)

Maxmilian Gawn is back in the Draftstars frame after his return from injury against the Eagles. The non-bearded giant managed to get a decent tally, racking up 15 disposals and 42 hit-outs on his way to 96 points. He will be better for the run I reckon, and is coming up against Callum Sinclair and Sam Naismith – two ruckmen who he should send to the cleaners. At $12,950, he is an absolute steal.
