AFL $30,000+ Saturday Line-Up

Like just about every week lately, Round 15 is very hard to read and that is no truer than for the day of this very contest. Four of the five games which should be absolute belters, which means there is not much point loading up on a bunch of players from one team. Strap yourself in for another big Saturday contest.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $30,000+ Saturday competition

Forward

Hugh Greenwood ($11,500)

Hugh Greenwood has been somewhat of a revelation since his debut a month or so ago. Thr 25-year old is averaging 83 Draftstars points from his five games, with the best of those coming against Hawthorn last week. Greenwood scored a monster 122 points from his 21 disposals and nine tackles, also snagging two sausage rolls in an emphatic effort. His price is still a bit of a bargain considering his potential.

Sam Kerridge ($8,450)

Sam Kerridge returns to the Carlton side after some strong form in the VFL. After playing the majority of games last season, Kerridge has found the going tough in 2017, playing just the two games averaging under 10 disposals. We like to look at cheapies who can hit those big scores, and Kerridge at his best can certainly do that. Should be looking to cement himself into the Blues lineup.

Midfield

Gary Ablett ($16,650)

Surely you remember the last time GAJ played the Kangas? If you don’t. I’ll fill you in: 45 disposals, 18 clearances, nine tackles and a goal. Dominant. Ablett always performs pretty well against the Roos, and he should be at his very best considering its his 300th game. The stars should align for the little master who has done so much for the game of footy. I reckon we have to pick him, otherwise he will make us regret it.

Luke Dahlhaus ($12,750)

Lukey Dahlhaus has been a bit disappointing of late, with three below 80 scores in his past six games. However, the Bulldog doesn’t mind it under the roof, having posted all of his three tons at Etihad Stadium. Dahl racked up 26 and four tackles in his last game on his way to 91 Draftstars points Is well due for a big total and he could be in for a big one against an understrength Eagles side.

Kane Lambert ($11,550)

There have been times where Kane Lambert has just made up the numbers for the Tigers, but the last few weeks has seen him flourish. Lambert appears to be spending more time in the midfield and is averaging 104 Draftstars points in his his past three – well above his average of 79 for the season. Lambert remains at $11.5k and I expect his role to stay the same against the Power on Saturday night.

Matthew White ($9,100)

This man has fallen off the face of the earth somewhat over the past two years. White played just the one AFL game last season due to pectoral and cheekbone injuries, and has featured for the Power twice this year. He took his chance last week as a late in though, scoring 85 Draftstars points from 21 disposals against the Pies. He generally performs better at Adelaide Oval so is a value cheap option in my eyes.

Defence

Heath Shaw ($12,000)

It was Heath Shaw’s 250th game last week but it was a match he would want to forget. Brisbane sent Rohan Bewick to him, keeping the Giants defender to just nine disposals. Rohan clearly didn’t have Shaw in his Draftstars team, because he kept him to just 29 Draftstars points last weekend. This has sent Shaw’s price plummeting, and with Zac Williams out of the side with injury, I’d be liking his chances of getting a good total.

Ciaran Sheehan ($6,400)

Irishman Ciaran Sheehan is in for his first game since 2014 after a series of knee injuries have plagued him. He has only played the four games in his short career, averaging 45 Draftstars points, but he has worked hard to get where he is now. I think he will provide some more values for us for this Saturday contest, allowing us to get some more expensive players like Ablett.

Ruck

Paddy Ryder ($11,500)

Paddy Ryder has been at his athletic best of late, averaging 35 hitouts in his past three games but just the 80 Draftstars points. We saw how dominant Matty Kreuzer was against The Nank last week, and I think Ryder has the potential to absolutely smash him on Saturday night. Nankervis isn’t a great jumper in the ruck, meaning that Ryder will be able to leap over the top of him with ease. Expect a big one from him.
