AFL $20,000+ Saints v Bombers Line-Up

This should be an absolute BELTER. Although, I said the same about Tigers vs Saints last week and look how that panned out… Unlike Richmond, I reckon the Bombers might actually turn up to Etihad which should ensure this game is a close one. WARNING: Serious lack of rookies in this one, so we may have to be a bit crazy and go with a bit of mid-priced madness.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $20,000+ Saints v Bombers competition

Forward

Orazio Fantasia ($10,150)

Thought there was no better man to start us off than Orazio Fantasia. Or should I say Oraaaaazio Fantaaaasia. Brian Taylor will be commentating ‘Razzle Dazzle’ yet again on Friday which I’m sure will spark the young lad into action. Fantasia booted five majors on his way to 84 Draftstars points last week, so he is in good form. Saints are more of a top heavy defence, which will suit Fantasia’s game.

Travis Colyer ($9,800)

Travis Colyer has been fairly disappointing this season but particularly over the past few weeks, averaging 60 Draftstars points. The Bomber speedster posted a paltry total of 39 a fortnight ago, which is why we see his price so low. Bounced back with a solid score of 74 last week against the Pies. Has produced four 90+ efforts this year which gives us reason to take the punt on him.

Midfield

Zach Merrett ($15,050)

Like Colyer, a poor game a fortnight ago sees Zachy Merrett at a much more affordable price. Merrett fell under 20 disposals for the first time in about two seasons against the Lions, scoring 78 Draftstars points. Against Collingwood he punched out a lazy 105 points while copping the Levi Greenwood tag. Did I mention he was also down the race for 15 minutes after copping an elbow from him? Underpriced, loves Etihad. Pick him.

Jack Newnes ($12,750)

Jack Newnes is in some great Draftstars form this season, averaging 91 points per game – including an injury affected score of 10 earlier in the year. Since then, Newnes has gone at 101 points in his past six games playing on the wing and in defence. I also reckon a full game of BT pronouncing his name ‘Noons’ will make him so angry that he will demand the ball at every opportunity. Ton on the cards.

Daniel McKenzie ($10,550)

Daniel McKenzie has been a solid Draftstars performer in his three games in the St Kilda lineup. The youngster has posted scores of 96, 82 and 56 in 2017, with that 56 coming in his first game back. This has seen his price drop somewhat, so there is value to be had here. Also considering McKenzie is a defender, he did well to get as much footy as he did last week in their drubbing of the Tigers.

Andrew McGrath ($9,900)

Andrew McGrath has featured in my Draftstars line-ups quite a bit this season and has served me fairly well. The number one draft pick has averaged 19 disposals and 72 Draftstars points in 2017, showing a great level of consistency (besides two weeks ago). McGrath reached just 39 points against the Swans but has scored between 68 and 85 points in six of his past seven games. Continuing the value theme here.

Defence

Dylan Roberton ($11,250)

Sorry… More value. Dylan Roberton has had a pretty rough patch of late, scoring 74, 68 and 68 at an average of 70 Draftstars points over the past three weeks. Roberton is still averaging 96 points per game this season, though, and has amassed seven Draftstars tons in his 15 games. Coming in at a measly $11.25k, he is cheap as chips. Etihad suits his marking game and he should bounce back on Friday night.

Jake Carlisle ($8,950)

Jake Carlisle has posted some pretty disgusting totals this year, but this caper is all about taking risks. There is a real lack of cheapies in general for this contest, however, it is at its worst in defence. Carlisle has scored two 75+ scores in his past three games, which gives him some relevance at his price. Up against his old side, expect Carlisle to be up and about.

Ruck

Tom Hickey ($11,250)

Considering there are two ruckman in this contest, this really isn’t a difficult choice. Tom Hickey has been starved of opportunity this season, kept out of the side since Round 4 by Billy ‘no legs’ Longer. It’s weird seeing a Saints #1 ruck who is capable of both winning hitouts AND kicking the football. Would expect Hickey to win the (Josh) battle against Bellchambers and deliver a fruitful score for his price.
