NRL $1,500+ Broncos v Sharks Line-Up

It’s third verses fourth on Friday night as the Sharks head north to take on the Broncos. Despite their ladder positions, the form lines of the two teams couldn’t be more different; the Broncos thumped the Titans by 54 points last round, whilst the Sharks lost to the Raiders. However, James Maloney returns to the Sharks line up which will be a huge boost in the halves.

Here is a team you may consider for the NRL $1,500+ Broncos v Sharks competition

Front Row Forward

Paul Gallen ($17,100)

In his 300th game, Gallen will be desperate for a victory in front of the Queensland crowd that have come to despise him over the years. Despite playing heavy minutes through the middle of the park for years, Gallen is still getting the job done at the ripe old age of 35. He’s averaging a whopping 179.5 metres and 32.1 tackles per game, and is still one of the premier forwards in the competition. In a clash that will likely determine which team makes the top four, the Sharks’ skipper will be looking to lead from the front and put on a dominant display.

Korbin Sims ($9,450)

Sims has returned to the starting line-up in recent weeks and has been solid both in attack and defence. Despite rarely being spoken about as a difference maker for Brisbane, Sims gives them toughness and stability through the middle with his strong ball carrying and rock solid defence. He has the skills to be used as a ball player, but since moving to Brisbane his running game has been the key to his game. He’s tough to stop near the try line and has scored five tries this season already, so he has plenty of upside when it comes to Draftstars scoring.

Hooker

Fa’amanu Brown ($7,500)

Brown looks to have found his feet at first-grade level this season after being given consistent playing time by coach Shane Flanagan. His ability to play in the halves or at hooker has been handy for the injury riddled Sharks, and with James Maloney returning at five-eighth this week, Brown will slide back to number nine. He has shown the ability to make plays and set up teammates no matter which position he’s playing and at hooker he will be laying significantly more tackles than he was in the halves. At under $8k, he’s great value.

Second Row Forward

Josh McGuire ($13,300)

After a few quiet weeks, McGuire has been back to his best recently, showing the form that has got him selected for the Maroons and Kangaroos. He is a throwback to a bygone era with the toughness he plays and after the controversies surrounding McGuire and Andrew Fifita throughout Origin, there is no doubt he will be looking to dominate the Sharks. His running and tackling make him a fantasy star and after a couple of quiet weeks, his price won’t break the bank either.

Tevita Pangai Jnr ($8,600)

Pangai Jnr made one of the best passes in recent memory last week, as he let off a no look, left handed flick pass to set a teammate up for an open try. That try showcased Tevita’s immense talent which usually manifests itself in his strong running game, but has also been shown in his passing and offloading ability. His ability to create second phase action has been particularly valuable to the Broncos and has often kick-started their attack through the middle of the game.

Centre

Alex Glenn ($10,400)

With Sam Thaiday playing significant minutes at hooker in Andrew McCullough’s absence, Glenn has found himself playing full games again. When playing 80 minutes, Glenn is averaging 155.3 metres gained and 29.4 tackles per game. He is a veteran of this team and always runs great lines, which makes him a threat to make a line break at any time, especially with the amount of playmakers the Broncos have at the moment. Having a back-rower in the centres provides great solidarity as they are far less likely to have no impact on the game and cost you the Draftstars contest.

Half

Kodi Nikorima ($9,350)

Nikorima started at halfback and the Broncos won again. It’s becoming commonplace now, isn’t it? He’s won all nine games he’s started at halfback this season and has been influential in most of them. Last week he made seven tackle breaks, two line breaks, ran 159 metres, assisted on a try and scored two himself in a phenomenal playmaker’s performance. The Broncos are back at Suncorp Stadium this week and Nikorima will be looking to continue his perfect streak with another big game against a tough opponent.

Wing/Fullback

James Roberts ($12,900)

Roberts has been unstoppable in the last four weeks, scoring five tries and causing plenty of hassles for opposition defence. He is undoubtedly one of the premier centres in the competition, leading the position in tries and line breaks thanks to his blistering speed. The Sharks backline lacks firepower without Jack Bird, so Roberts is a great option given his enormous upside and ability to expose inexperienced defensive combinations.

Corey Oates ($10,650)

Oates returned from injury last week and picked up from where he left off, scoring a double in the drubbing of the Titans. His speed in open space was utilised to perfection last week as he dashed past opposition defenders and found the line. Against the Sharks, he will be tested by James Maloney’s kicking game, but should have a significant advantage in attack in the air. He always racks up massive metre numbers thanks to his ball carrying and he has a great try scoring record in Brisbane.
