AFL $40,000+ Cats v Swans Line-Up
The betting market suggests the Swans have this game done and won, but I am not so sure. Sydney have had the Cats’ measure of late, but I feel like there has to be another twist in the tale in this unpredictable season. Probably not a Cats win, but a close game, hence why I’ve picked a pretty even line-up for this contest.

Forward
Isaac Heeney ($11,900)
I backed in Heeney last week and he came up short of what I expected, posting 87 Draftstars points despite the Swanslaught (I’m here all night). His two goals are what got him to that score, and I feel like he will have an impact on the scoreboard yet again on Friday night. Stood tall in crucial finals last year.
Daniel Menzel ($9,550)
Daniel Menzel returns to the Cats line-up after being given the axe last week. The small forward has gone through his fair share of misfortune across his injury prone career, and I can see his luck turning against the Swans. Menzel will perhaps be playing for his spot in the side next week and maybe even for his spot on the list, with rumours swelling that he will be shipped off at seasons end.
Midfield
Joel Selwood ($12,900)
Coming back at record pace from his ankle injury, Joelos had a pretty average day at the office. Clamped down by Prestia, Selwood managed just the 19 touches of the pigskin and 63 Draftstars. His two scores before this were 64 (injured) and 59 (tagged), which is why we see him at this ridiculously low price. Surely Joel Selwood at $12.9k is too good to pass up.
Jake Lloyd ($12,550)
Jakey Lloyd amassed his first Draftstars ton in nine weeks against the Bombers. Lloyd thrived on the outside, claiming 25 disposals and 14 marks on his way to a 108 point total. The 23-year-old (his birthday is next Wednesday for those interested) has been a fairly tidy of late, with four 80+ totals in his past five. I can see the Swans chipping it around the backline, which should give Lloyd plenty of opportunity to get his hands on the footy.
Callum Mills ($10,800)
Last year’s Rising Star winner has improved his Draftstars game slightly in 2017, averaging 71 points this year compared to 62 last season. Mills has had a fruitful fortnight against poor opposition, posting scores of 90 and 89, racking up marks across half-back. We don’t have many good cheap options in this one, but the recent form of the youngsters suggests he is a reasonable buy despite scoring just 60 last time he played Geelong
Steven Motlop ($10,450)
Many Geelong fans hate this man, and I was sitting next to one supporter last week who yelled at him whenever he got the ball. Despite having an absolute stinker match-wise, he still was able to post 86 Draftstars points. This is probably because clanger kicks still count as +3 in this game of ours. Nonetheless, Motlop is the kind of player that can provide spark and is capable of doing it on the big stage.
Defence
Zak Jones ($10,850)
Zak Jones has been surprisingly consistent over the past month. The skinheaded man has churned out three 90+ scores over this period, averaging 91 Draftstars points per game. Loves to kick the pill, averaging 16 kicks over his last three, and has been a source of run for the Swans from defence. Expecting a similar result against the Cats.
Heath Grundy ($8,750)
I was really strapped for cash, but it occurred to me that Heath Grundy has actually scored alright in the last fortnight. Grundy took 10 marks last week and scored 81 Draftstars points, backing up his 87 point performance the week before. As I’ve said previously, the Swans will chip it around their backline as they always do, and this along with some intercept marks should get Grundy to a solid score for his price.
Ruck
Zac Smith ($12,150)
Zac Smith is the logical choice here considering he is up against two average ruckman, but his form of late has been impressive. Despite the Cats embarrassing loss last weekend, Smith was able to ton up thanks to his whopping 51 hit-outs. This was against Nankervis who is a poor hit-out ruckman, but Naismith and Sinclair are fairly average in this department. Scored 96 in his last match-up against the Swans.
