AFL $75,000+ TIGERS V CATS
The big money continues into the bye rounds with $75,000 up for grabs in this top-of-the-table clash at the G!
This game could quite possibly be one of the funnest of the season from a DFS point of view.
A wide range of cheapy options, plenty of mid-rangers all capable of busting their salary (or breaking your team!) and just as many top tier studs that coaches will have to get right – there aren’t a lot of free squares here which makes for fun selection.
For me tonight is about taking advantage of a few players who are in amazing spots thanks to the plethora of team changes.
Here is my team you can consider using, or building around, for tonight’s $75,000+ contest.
FORWARD
Tom Hawkins ($11,290): The big tomahawk is always a favourite of mine but tonight in particular, with no Astbury in defence for the Tigers, Hawkins will absolutely own that forward line. He will own all forward ruck contests as well. Can kick 5 and ton up here and with so many midfield stud options as well as some cheapies, i can see players like Hawkins still coming in well under-owned.
Tom Atkins ($7,360): Changes his status from midfield to forward and in a contested kind of game Atkins should get near enough to his salary here for a solid value game. Bombed abit last week but two starts back he scored 96pts. Loves to tackle, can see an 8 tackle, 10 disposal ‘value’ game from Atkins here that won’t kill my team.
MIDFIELD
Kamdyn McIntosh ($9,540): No Lambert and now no Ellis means the Tigers will desperately need McIntosh’s run on the wing. He will have to be absolutely everywhere which gives him the opportunity to score well especially at the MCG. Hoping for an 80+ tonight.
Mitch Duncan ($15,460): Forget last-start 80 odd where he was tagged, Duncan will return to mid 120’s here against the Tigers. He could very well finish the game as the high scoring player on the slate.
Tim Kelly ($14,720): Another guy who was down last week but who can bounce back big in this spot against a Tigers side unlikely to really clamp down on Kelly. Cotchin likely a run-with. Can smash past 110pts here.
Brandan Parfitt ($10,720): Parfitt has been sneaky consistent this season, returning mid-high 80’s as a baseline and that score will be fine again here. Just need a guy who won’t fail and Parfitt is the man.
DEFENDERS
Bachar Houli ($14,520): he got beaten up last week so if there is ever a time to hard-fade Houli it’s tonight as one wrong knock and the veteran could be cooked. But if he sees out the game he will score 130+ so that’s the risk we run not taking him. Will be very popular.
Patrick Naish ($5,000): VFL numbers are solid enough, had 4 games over 25 disposals last season but also a handful of games under 15 disposals. Still, he is a distributor so I expect the Tigers to use him, try and find him on the outside coming out of defence. Worth the risk at the price.
RUCK
Rhys Stanley ($11,350): Best ruck option on the slate, he can find three figures here for not that much more money than the cheaper options who will all struggle to break 70. Likely to be very low owned.
