AFL $30,000+ Saturday Line-Up
Ahhh, normality has been restored. We are back to five games this weekend and while one of them is still Brisbane vs GWS at the ‘GABBA, we should be relieved we don’t have Port vs Brisbane followed by Suns vs Blues like last Saturday. Some more teams to choose our Draftstars players from always helps, too.
Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $30,000+ Saturday competition
Forward
Dom Sheed ($12,750)
Dominic Sheed has had a stellar few weeks in Draftstars, posting two tons and a 98 to give him a three-week average of 112. It is easy to forget that this guy was a first round draft pick in 2013, and he appears to be reaching his potential. Has posted four 98+ totals at Domain Stadium this season, so expect another strong showing from him on Saturday night.
Jonathon Patton ($9,400)
Jonathon Patton is a smart option for this contest considering the Giants are up against Brisbane. Some would say he got eaten alive by Liam Jones last week, but he still managed to kick two goals against the full-back of the century. In all seriousness, I’d be banking on Patton scoring higher than his Draftstars average of 62.
Midfield
Elliot Yeo ($13,750)
Elliot YEOOOOO has been in immaculate Draftstars form in 2017, going at 107 points per game. Yeo will be a bit cut not having BT yeodelling his name about Domain Stadium, but he should still score well without his moral support. Last week’s 98 was Yeo’s lowest total at home all year, and I’d expect him to be lining up in defence for this one. With Hogan and Watts out, Yeo will be able to take marks in defence with ease.
Tom Liberatore ($11,700)
Tom Liberatore was back in the Doggies line-up last week and he was just about the only one who could hold his head up high. Libba had 29 disposals and laid nine tackles en-route to 109 Draftstars points after being out of the side for over a month. If he can notch up a similar score against the Roos he will be an absolute steal at his price.
Matt De Boer ($9,700)
Have been keeping the faith with Matty De Boer since he made his Giants debut and he repaid it in his last game, scoring 85 Draftstars points. De Boer Constrictor lived up to his nickname (someone other than me calls him that, surely?), laying six tackles along with gathering 17 touches and booting a goal. Up against the Lions, De Boer should be able to rack up the tackles in what should be a scrappy albeit one-sided game.
James Aish ($9,000)
James Aish was traded to the Pies with high hopes and hasn’t really delivered in a Draftstars sense either until last week. Aish racked up 22 touches and scored 104 Draftstars points on Queens Birthday, a mammoth total for his meagre price. He is sitting at just $9,000 which presents plenty of value considering he can go large. Just hope he doesn’t score 36 like he did in the game before…
Defence
Christian Salem ($11,750)
Not really sure how Christian Salem remains under $12k but that certainly isn’t a bad thing, is it? Salem has posted totals of 95 and 112 since returning to the side, and the Dees love having the ball in his hands. Has a kick to handball of nearly 2:1, which bodes well for Draftstars. Should take advantage of this before his price goes north.
Alex Witherden ($7,000)
Alex Witherden has been banging the door down in the NEAFL and gets his opportunity to make his debut. Witherden was out all season during his draft year with injury, and would have been picked higher than #23 if he had played in 2016. The kid has plenty of talent and knows how to find the footy, so should be a good bet for this contest. Was named on the field which excites me a bit.
Ruck
Max Gawn ($14,000)
The people’s beard is back in action, without the beard? It will be an unfamiliar seeing the big man without al that hair hanging from his chinny chin chin. From all reports he is fit and raring to go, which is great because he comes up against Nathan Vardy and Drew Petrie on Saturday night. I’m backing him to dominate the hit-outs and get something similar to his first game of the season, where he amassed 49 hit-outs on his way to 111 Draftstars points.
