AFL $10,000+ Power v Eagles Line-Up

The last game of this important first week of finals presents an incredibly even clash at Adelaide Oval. Port Adelaide in fifth still remain incapable of beating a top eight side, and the Eagles go missing away from home. However, the Coasters did beat the Power earlier in the year in Adelaide. I have a sneaky suspicion the Eagles will get up, which has made me ‘POD it up’ a bit for this one.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $10,000+ Power v Eagles competition

Forward

Justin Westhoff ($11,500)

Justin Westhoff’s middle name is inconsistency but he has carved out a solid Draftstars season for himself. The Hoff is averaging 83 Draftstars points per game, scoring five tons for the season. He has been in pretty poor form of late though, scoring just one 80+ total in the last six weeks. Scored 106 points from 23 touches and two goals last time against West Coast, and 85 against them earlier in the year. Good POD.

Josh J. Kennedy ($11,450)

Josh J. Kennedy was leading the Coleman into Round 23 and managed just the one major in the final round of the season, giving it up to Buddy who slammed home 10. Shattering. The Power have been a good defensive line-up all year but they don’t have any brilliant stoppers – instead they are a cohesive unit. Booted 2.3 and scored 81 in his last outing against the Power at Adelaide Oval.

Midfield

Sam Mitchell ($13,500)

Sam Mitchell is all class, and he proved that on the big stage last week in what could have been his last game of AFL footy. The former Hawk amassed 34 disposals and scored 117 Draftstars points in a starring display at Domain Stadium. I can’t resist the fairy-tale of picking him for possibly his last game, especially with last week’s score under his belt.

Dom Sheed ($11,250)

Dominic Sheed hasn’t been in one of my write-ups for a while after being plonked in there for a good couple of months straight. A paltry 57 a few weeks ago see his price at a low $11.25k, and his past fortnight has yielded handy totals of 84 and 88. I can see West Coast upsetting the Power and I reckon Adelaide Oval will suit young Dominic to a tee.

Sam Powell-Pepper ($9,650)

Sam Powell-Pepper has been a player who has thrived in the big moments this season (besides scoring 16 Draftstars points in the Showdown…). From day dot, the boy built like a brick wall has tackled hard and launched big time goals when it’s mattered. SPP has averaged 70 Draftstars points per game this season, which seems him underpriced at $9.65k. You would certainly take a 70+ at that price in a single game contest.

Lewis Jetta ($9,350)

Lewis Jetta will be bursting with confidence after being almost single-handedly the reason why the Coasters snuck into finals. His last quarter against the Crows was outstanding, featuring a brilliant running goal. He had 16 disposals in this match of which 15 were kicks, which bodes well for his outing at Adelaide Oval where his run and carry will be essential. X-Factor player and certainly a risk, but it’s a risk worth taking.

Defence

Shannon Hurn ($10,650)

West Coast’s flag chances are as likely as Hurn keeping his hair, but that won’t stop the skipper giving it his best shot. Hurn put in an impressive display in his last game, scoring 95 Draftstars points from 28 disposals and 11 marks against the Crows in Round 23. The Eagles should look to get it to him out of defence with his thumping kick. Doubt he will repeat the 43 he got against them last time.

Darcy Byrne-Jones ($9,200)

Darcy Byrne-Jones had a very good outing in Round 23 – mind you, he was playing against a bunch of witches hats. Nonetheless, DBJ claimed 25 touches and recorded his highest Draftstars score for the season: 98 points. Just two shy of the fabled ton. To be frank, the defensive options in this contest are appalling, so he is worth the punt. .

Ruck

Paddy Ryder ($13,450)

Paddy Ryder is the man screaming ‘pick me’ in this contest. He is up against second rate ruckman Nathan Vardy and Drew Petrie on Saturday night, and he should send them to the cleaners. Ryder has already destroyed them twice this season, posting mammoth totals of 131 and 135 against the Coasters. Absolute no brainer: pick him, or you stand no chance.
