AFL $20,000+ Crows v Bulldogs Line-Up
Both sides came into last week expecting to win comfortably, but the two sides ended up struggling. Adelaide are back at home, however I reckon the Doggies are in with a sniff for this one. Not a lot at either end of the price spectrum, so midprice-madness looks like the way to go to take out the cash.
Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $20,000+ Crows v Bulldogs competition
Forward
Charlie Cameron ($9,450)
Charlie Cameron returns to the Adelaide side for this Friday night clash after a week out with injury. The mercurial small forward has averaged 75 Draftstars points thus far, but he is one of those players who has the potential to go large at any time. He has posted four totals above 95 this season, with three of those being at Adelaide Oval. Worth a punt.
Mitch Honeychurch ($9,400)
Mitch Honeychurch has been a solid scorer since entering the Bulldog side. The small forward is averaging 71 Draftstars points per game and managed to score 62 in his last match despite claiming just 10 touches. This was thanks to his 10 tackles, which ensured he was able to reach a solid total. Considering he is on the brink of the Bulldogs lineup, I’d expect Honeychurch’s relentless intent to continue.
Midfield
Rory Sloane ($13,750)
Rory Sloane has been tagged more than any player this season. The Bulldogs under Luke Beveridge have tended to let their midfield do the talking rather than lock down opposition players, so I reckon it is worth taking the punt on Sloane. He is at a price of just $13,750, which too good to ignore considering he posted scores of 152, 139, 143, 132 and 155 on the trot earlier in the season. Gotta risk it to get the biscuit.
Lachie Hunter ($13,700)
I don’t reckon this guy will be a very popular selection. Lachie Hunter has been played out of position at times this season, finding himself across half-back due to the Bulldogs even spread of midfield talent. His seasonal average of 88 Draftstars points doesn’t do him justice, with his past two weeks a true reflection of what he is capable of. Hunter has churned out scores of 109 and 100, and I can see hitting the ton again on Friday night.
Mitch Wallis ($11,900)
Had Hugh Greenwood in this spot before teams were announced, but Mitchy Wallis is certainly a worthy replacement. Wallis has gone at 84 Draftstars points per outing in his six games since returning from injury. He managed just the 13 disposals and 58 points last week, but has been named as the centre for his 100th game. Some say milestone games are a myth but considering everything this bloke has been through, I’m gonna back him in.
Rory Atkins ($11,450)
Find myself putting this bloke into my side just about every time he plays at Adelaide Oval. Atkins has posted three tons and a 99 from his eight games there this season, falling under 80 just once in the Showdown. Loves getting on the outside at the venue, recording 28 disposals (21 kicks) in his last game there against Hawks. Expecting a performance like this against the Doggies, who let Andrew Gaff run rampant last week.
Defence
Matthew Suckling ($11,700)
Matty Suckling has had two solid efforts in the past three weeks. He managed just the 57 Draftstars points last week, but he reached totals of 83 and 99 in the fortnight before. Although he is away from his second home in Etihad Stadium, I’d say Jason Johannisen being locked down (again) is a strong possibility. If this happens, Suckling should be able to get his hands on the pill in the backline and use that raking left boot to give us +3’s.
Jake Lever ($9,700)
Jakey Lever will be one of the most sought after players if he is out of contract at the end of 2017, meaning strong performances will see his value rise. I’m not talking Draftstars value – I am talking real life dollars. The best key forward the Bulldogs have at their disposal is Jack Redpath, who I expect Lever to dominate in the air. Should rack up plenty of marks and justify his price.
Ruck
Jordan Roughead ($8,700)
I had previously pencilled in Tom Campbell into this spot but an injury has forced him out of the side. Enter Jordan Roughead. The big man has been playing in defence over the past fortnight, producing disgusting Draftstars efforts of 27 and 30. Now that’s pox. In his last game as a full-time ruckman, he posted 116 points against the Demons. Currently at $8.7k, he is an absolute steal as the sole recognised ruck for the Bulldogs.
