AFL $20,000+ Swans v Bulldogs Line-Up

The SCG hosts the second Grand Final rematch within twelve rounds. When the AFL scheduled this, they probably would have thought the Swans would be higher than 16th on the ladder. Last time a kick after the siren from JJ decided the two sides in Sydney, and I expect this matchup to be a tight one as well.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $20,000+ Sydney v Bulldogs competition

Forward

Luke Dahlhaus ($12,700)

Luke Dahlhaus has had an average few weeks, which has forced his price to dip. Dahlhaus has averaged just the 79 Draftstars points over the past three weeks. He gathered 25 disposals and scored 84 points in his last matchup against the Swans in Round 2, but I can see him going bigger on this occasion. The week off will do the contested animal the world of good, and he should be able to produce a ton on Thursday night.

Gary Rohan ($6,800)

Gary Rohan has been playing as a small forward so far in 2017, registering a paltry average of 40 Draftstars points from his four games. This is including his injury affected total of 10 against the Blues, so he is actually averaging around the 50 mark. This is nothing special, but Gary Rohan is one of those players who has the ability to light up games. In these single game contests we need to take a bit of risk, and I see Rohan as a ‘high reward’ sort of selection at his cheap price.

Midfield

Dan Hannebery ($16,200)

After starting the season poorly and giving up giving up on the beers, Dan Hannebery is now in stellar form. Hannebery has churned out five straight tons, averaging 30 touches and a whopping 120 Draftstars points across this period. The blonde bombshell is the most expensive player in this contest and it’s likely he will end the match as the top scorer. Not sure how he’s done it, as upping my drinking has made my footballing ability even worse.

Jack Macrae ($13,550)

Jack Macrae has put together a very consistent Draftstars season aside from the past fortnight. The lanky Bulldog scored 85 and 76 points against St Kilda and Geelong, well below his lofty standards. Macrae had scored between 92 and 116 in his first eight matches of 2017 – a real nice standard deviation there. I’d back him to score inside this range on Thursday.

Jake Lloyd ($12,250)

How about this for a steal! Jake Lloyd was concussed in the first minute of the game against the Hawks, with a solitary handball and 2 Draftstars points his numbers for the night. My condolences to those who had him in their side two weeks ago. However, this misfortune has created opportunity, with his price falling significantly from no fault of his own. Don’t let that average of 93.9 fool you – the Swans gun is averaging 104 without this score. Bargain.

Bailey Williams ($7,600)

Bailey Williams has been one I’ve looked to for Bulldogs contests as they don’t have many other young rookie priced players. The youngster scored just 27 Draftstars points against the Saints last weekend, but I can’t see him scoring like this two weeks in a row. Williams had reached totals of 62 and 57 in the previous two weeks, and a score like this would be solid for his price.

Defence

Zak Jones ($11,000)

Zak Jones shot into Draftstars form in their last game, reaching a big score of 119 Draftstars points. Jones didn’t get a ridiculous amount of the footy but laid a monster 11 tackles in the Swans narrow loss to the Hawks, appearing to play more through the midfield. Despite this latest price jump he is still priced favourably at $11k after his highest score of the season.

Dane Rampe ($9,000)

Dane Rampe is yet to really spark into action since his chain-jumping injury, but he looks to be improving. Rampe upped his return tally of 13 disposals to 18 against the Hawks, also claiming six marks en-route to 63 Draftstars points. Rampe appears to be on a steady incline (pardon the pun) with his scoring, and at this rate, he should get a 70+ score on Thursday night.

Ruck

Callum Sinclair ($10,200)

This looks to be the obvious ruck selection in this contest, with Jordan Roughead and Tom Boyd sharing duties for the Bulldogs. Kurt Tippett has been pinch-hitting a bit, but Sinclair looks to be attending the majority of stoppages. The past fortnight Sinclair has won 25 and 30 hitouts – his highest amounts for the year to date – reaching Draftstars totals of 63 and 87. Should have a field day and score well above his current average of 72.
