AFL $25,000+ Crows v Saints Line-Up

Last time the Saints ventured to Adelaide Oval, the Crows gave them an absolute thumping to the tune of 88 points. This time around things should be a tad closer, but the rampaging Adelaide side are capable of anything. If it’s not an entertaining match, you’ve always got this Friday night contest to turn to.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $25,000+ Crows v Saints competition

Forward

Hugh Greenwood ($10,550)

Hugh Greenwood has begun his AFL career in marvellous fashion. The mature age recruit already is gelling into the Crows lineup, averaging 15 disposals, nine tackles and 90 Draftstars points in his first three games. Greenwood spent most of his time against the Cats in the midfield, where he hunted the footy and the man with intent. Considering around 30 of his points each game has come from tackles, he should come up with the goods.

Wayne Milera ($8,950)

Wayne Milera has defied the term ‘second year blues’, having some classy games in his second season for the Crows. Milera is averaging just the 63 Draftstars points per game but his two best performed games were at Adelaide Oval, with scores of 93 and 88. While the Saints may keep it tight, they are prone to the odd interstate touchup, and got absolutely thumped last time they played Adelaide at home. Can see him doing well for his price tag.

Midfield

Sebastian Ross ($14,300)

Sebby Ross has been a Draftstars revelation in 2017. The young Saint is going at 103 Draftstars points per game, including his score of 42 in Round 1. Since then, Ross has not fallen below 88 points and has averaged 110 points per game, making him a Draftstars steal. Had 37 touches, eight tackles en-route to 137 in his last hit-out, and I expect him to score well again.

Brad Crouch ($13,650)

I have picked this guy in his past few games and he has failed to let me down. Brad Crouch has averaged 101 points in his last three games, scoring totals of 102, 100 and 101. It doesn’t get much more consistent than that. Crouch is a player that just can’t help but find the footy, and he kicks it a lot more than his brother Matt.

Daniel McKenzie ($10,950)

Daniel McKenzie entered the Saints side a couple of weeks ago and has fared well across half back. McKenzie appears to be profiting from St Kilda’s tendency to chip around the backline, averaging 19 disposals, eight marks, five tackles and 89 Draftstars points. It will be interesting to see how he goes at Adelaide Oval, but the youngster has shown enough in his first two games to suggest he is a solid selection.

Jade Gresham ($8,750)

Jade Gresham has experienced a fairly average Draftstars season, scoring 60 points per game. He has played every game this season and last week was his best Draftstars performance, reaching 80 points from 15 disposals and a goal. It may be a pretty tough game for the Saints, but Adelaide’s run and gun gamestyle should allow Gresham to get a goal or two the other way. There isn’t many other midfield rookie options, either.

Defence

Dylan Roberton ($12,750)

Dylan Roberton has had a formidable ball-winning season. The tall-defender has been set free by Nathan Brown and Jake Carlisle in 2017, averaging 25 disposals and 105.5 Draftstars points. Of these 25 disposals, almost 20 of them are kicks, meaning Roberton gets high reward from his possessions. This is without mentioning his seven marks per game, which have come about thanks to Saints’ willingness to control possession. A guy who is 12.7k averaging 105 is too good to pass up.

Andy Otten ($9,500)

Andy Otten has an absoluuuute stinker against the Cats last week, scoring just the 40 Draftstars points thanks to a goal late in the piece. He was on track to score under 30 for most of the game, but I am putting my faith in the big man. Otten’s last game at Adelaide Oval yielded 107 points with a career high four goals. While he probably won’t get a score like that on Friday night, he should be able to kick a couple and get 70+.

Ruck

Billy Longer ($10,300)

Billy Longer had his best Draftstars performance for the season in his last game against the Bulldogs. Longer posted a monster 125 Draftstars points, managing to actually reach over 10 disposals (the first time he’s done that this year, no joke…). He has a tougher assignment in Sam Jacobs this week but his hitouts have been consistent all year, averaging 39.5 per game.
