AFL $25,000+ Demons v Magpies Line-Up

It is Queens Birthday footy – or ‘Big Freeze’ footy – and that should make you excited. Although I am not the biggest fan of the royal family, I am rather thankful for this day off. The fantastic work of Neale Daniher should be recognised, I can’t put into words how strong he is.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $25,000+ Demons v Magpies competition

Forward

Cameron Pedersen ($13,200)

Cam Pedersen has been sensational as Melbourne’s number one ruck. While he hasn’t won an awful lot of hitouts, Pedersen has still managed to average 101 Draftstars points per game with a low score of 94. Has been able to do this due to work around the ground, winning 17 disposals, five marks and five tackles per game. A safe bet with Spencer not in the side.

Callum Brown ($6,700)

Collingwood fans have been waiting for this kid to debut all year. Callum Brown was one of the Pies’ two father son selections last year – son of Gavin – and was even named on the field for this clash. Brown should be able to punch out a decent total for us considering his price is so cheap.

Midfield

Taylor Adams ($15,900)

Taylor Adams has been absolutely phenomenal this season through the midfield, averaging a whopping 119 Draftstars points per game. This included a huge total of 131 last week against the Dockers, racking up 28 touches laying 11 tackles. Has scored under 97 points in just won game in 2017, and I think he will rise to the occasion again on the Queen’s Birthday.

Josh Smith ($13,250)

The man with the most generic name in the business has been emphatic over the past three weeks. Smith has scored three straight tons – three of his four for the year – including a massive 131 Draftstars points last week (sounds like I’m repeating myself from Adams’ write up). Smithy appears to be getting a lot more of the footy and with Wells out of the side, I’d expect this trend to continue for Monday’s game.

Jordan De Goey ($10,850)

Jordan De Goey had his best game for the year last weekend, amassing 118 Draftstars points from 23 disposals and two majors. The youngster looked like he’d hit his straps in his fifth match since returning to the Collingwood lineup. Has averaged just 73 points so far this week, but he should be reach an 80+ sort of total.

Tim Broomhead ($8,000)

Timmy Broomhead has had a decent fortnight for the Pies, averaging 70 Draftstars points and 18 disposals His seasonal average of 61 points is pretty darn good for his current price, which sits at $8k. A 35 against the Blues was to blame for that, and he was dropped after that particular game. Broomhead is on the fringe so he should be motivated to keep on performing well.

Defence

Christian Salem ($9,950)

Christian Salem is also at a very favourable price for this contest. A score of 47 Draftstars points in his last game has seen his value plummet, so naturally it would be rude not to pick him for this one. Salem has seen himself playing more in the midfield throughout the year and even scored 114 in the Dees big win against the Crows. I think he is a must-have at $9.95k.

James Aish ($7,700)

James Aish returns to the Collingwood side after injury trouble. The youngster is yet to really show his potential since moving from the Lions, and Queens Birthday is the perfect opportunity for him to make an impact. Aish at $7,700 is a very good price in my eyes, even if he has failed to score over 59 Draftstars points in his three games this season.

Ruck

Brodie Grundy ($14,450)

IS it Grundy? It’s Grundy. Since Mason Cox has been out of the side, the big man has thrived, scoring four tons. Grundy has been getting 40+ Draftstars points per week from hitouts and as we know, he is a natural ball-winner around the ground. I expect Grundy to have an absolute field day rucking against Pedersen, who may match him around the ground, but will destroy him in the hit-out department. Should ton up yet again.
