AFL $25,000+ Saturday Line-Up

Another Saturday of Draftstars and we are back to the regulation five games. A few of these appear pretty one sided, so there is plenty of tasty options on offer. Carlton vs Sydney and Brisbane vs Port Adelaide in particular have the potential to be absolute thumpings. Shout out to the BFG (Aaron Sandilands) who plays his 250th game on the weekend.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $25,000+ Saturday competition

Forward

Lance Franklin ($13,350)

Looking at how Port Adelaide put Carlton to the sword last weekend, 10 goals isn’t out of the question for the Budweiser. Big Lance has been in solid form of late but hasn’t hit a ton since Round 2 when he amassed a whopping 127 points. If there was any week that Franklin dobs another “thirteen, thirteeeeeen” it’s this one. Really like his chances up against the young Blues defence of putting up a massive total.

Brandon Jack ($6,550)

The NEAFL ball magnet is in for his first AFL game since 2015, and guess who was among the outs? That’s right, his brother Kieran. Brandon should fare well against the Blues, and is value considering he is only $6.55k. Has been banging the door down for the past year or so in the magoos, so I expect Brandon to make the most of his opportunity. Not sure his parents will be in to watch, though…

Midfield

Tom Rockliff ($17,150)

Rockliff has been a prolific Draftstars scorer for many years and 2017 is no exception, averaging the 127.4 Draftstars points per game. In fact, him and teammate Zorko have scored the exact same amount of points to date. I expect this to change though, as Rocky absolutely loves the ‘Gabba. Expect him to amass another 120+ total against the Power, who I doubt will give him much attention.

Dan Hannebery ($14,450)

Hannebery hasn’t been getting much of the pill this season, averaging just 23 disposals and a meagre 83 Draftstars points per game. However, Hanners comes up against the Blues on Saturday, and I think he is in for a big one. He has increased his scoring in recent weeks but has only banked one Draftstars ton this season. Expect that to change on Saturday afternoon.

Jaeger O’Meara ($9,950)

After a two-week stint on the sidelines, Jaeger is back for the Hawks and this week he should be 100% fit. He has dropped from his starting price of above $10k and is simply a bargain at his price. JOM loves the footy and his hands and I think he will rack it up considering the Hawks only other ball-winning midfielder is Tom Mitchell. Should be a worthwhile selection given his knees don’t give way (touch wood!).

Harley Balic ($6,600)

Many in seasonal fantasy formats were shattered when Balic was out last week with a hip injury. In uncharacteristic Ross Lyon fashion, young Harley has been brought back in without playing a game in the WAFL. He has been brought in for Stephen Hill, so it is likely he will get a fair bit of midfield time, as he did against the Dees in his last match. 75 Draftstars points in his last outing says a lot, as does his 33 disposals per game in the WAFL this season.

Defence

Jasper Pittard ($12,550)

Jasper Pittard has had a couple of very solid games since returning from a hamstring injury, averaging the 94 Draftstars points per game along with 19 kicks and 26 disposals. Was able to roam free with ease last weekend, scoring 98 points from 28 disposals against the Blues. Similar should happen again vs the Lions, who don’t look to be much of a hope in this matchup. Back Jasper the friendly ghost in – he shouldn’t let you down.

Nic Newman ($7,350)

Everyone’s favourite el cheapo young defender returns after a 31 disposal effort in the NEAFL last weekend. In his three games to date Newman has averaged 80 Draftstars points per game, which is huge considering his discount price. Plays against the Blues on Saturday and should be able to get onto a number of cheap possies across half-back. An absolute Draftstars must.

Ruck

Aaron Sandilands ($11,800)

It is this herculean beast’s 250th on the weekend, and he should be in for a fairly easy assignment. Sandilands comes up against Giles and Vardy in the Western Derby, who are not even half the ruckman he is. Expect Sandi to pile on hitouts (+1’s) as he has done all year, averaging an enormous hit-outs per game this season to with his 84 Draftstars points. Big chance of tonning against the Eagles.
