AFL $25,000+ Sunday Line-Up

Kennedy, Josh J We have a couple of interesting matches this Sunday (coincidentally, there is just the couple of games actually on this Sunday). One is probably more set in stone than the other, though, with the Eagles firming as favourites against the Hawks but who knows – the Eagles are terrible at the G’. Across at Etihad, Saints vs Cats looms as one of the games of the round.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $25,000+ Sunday competition

Forward

Josh J. Kennedy ($13,300)

We saw Tom Hawkins kick a bag of four against the Hawks last weekend, and I can see Kennedy putting on a similar display on Friday night. JJK managed to score the 83 Draftstars points against Heath Grundy, and he should fare better against an out of form Josh Gibson or Ben Stratton. Currently sitting second in the competition for goals, I like his chances of ending Round 5 at the top of that list.

Blake Hardwick ($6,400)

Blake Hardwick’s performance last week was one of the few shining lights in an otherwise bleak afternoon for the Hawks. Hardwick didn’t exactly set the world on fantasy wise, scoring the 48 Draftstars points, but moved freely and marked well in defence. Can see this kid fighting to remain in the Hawthorn line-up, and Clarkson should give him ample opportunity on the weekend. You would be satisfied by a 60-point display from Hardwick.

Midfield

Tom Mitchell ($16,300)

By the looks of the past fortnight, Tom Mitchell will continue scoring well even when the Hawks get pumped. Titch hasn’t fallen below 115 Draftstars points this season, averaging 34 disposals, seven tackles and 123 points per game. The Eagles are expected to defeat the Hawks on Sunday afternoon but even so, Mitchell will be getting his hands dirty in coalface as usual.

Elliot Yeo ($13,150)

Yeo-Yeo has always been a good selection for daily fantasy due to his tendency to hit massive scores. However, 2017 has seen a degree of consistency come into his game in a floating intercept defence role. Yeo has smashed out three tons in his four games, with one of those reaching the 120-point mark. Can’t see the Hawks having much of a chance so Yeo should be able to gather plenty of marks across half-back.

Jack Steele ($11,900)

Steele has been steady in 2017, averaging the 84 Draftstars points per game with just the one score below 90. All three of his 90+ totals have come at Etihad and guess where the Sainters play the Cats on Sunday? Yep, the ol’ Telstra Dome. Jack Steven comes in but David Armitage is out, so his midfield time shouldn’t be affected. Named as ‘centre’ so I’m backing him to produce the goods once again.

Brandan Parfitt ($7,550)

Brandan Parfitt had a very solid game last week, racking up the 74 Draftstars points. This followed up his 90-point effort in Round 3. Parfitt appears to be growing in confidence and is probably our best cheap option in the midfield. Is a bit of an Etihad specialist – simply due to the fact his highest score was under the roof. Hopefully dubbing him this will inspire another promising performance from the young Cat.

Yeo, Elliot

Defence

Zach Tuohy ($11,550)

Zach Tuohy posted 96 Draftstars points last weekend after scoring 69 two games in a row (some of our dirty minded readers won’t mind those stats). Despite scoring these two lower totals at Etihad, it is under the roof that suits Zachary’s skills and tendency to kick long. May not be too free against the Saints but I can see him producing a solid possession tally.

Jimmy Webster ($9,700)

How about the efforts of Jimmy Webster last Sunday?! The defender raised the bat for his first Draftstars ton for the season, scoring 101 points and raising his average to a reasonable 70 for the season. I wouldn’t normally advocate the services of Webster, but… he is coming off a 25 disposal game – well above his usual output. We are not exactly blessed for cheap defenders for this Sunday, so he may be worth consideration.

Ruck

Jonathan Giles ($9,750)

Jonathan Giles comes up against Big Boy McEvoy on the weekend, who isn’t exactly the world’s best tap ruckman. He has averaged the 66 Draftstars points per game this season, including 25 hitouts per game. I’d expect Giles to rack up around 30 against the Hawks, which should help him to a solid 70 odd.
