AFL $25,000+ Sunday Line-Up

There are a few really interesting games on this particular Sunday, which I’m sure will stuff our tipping up even more. We have also been gifted quite a few value selections in this one, so we have the scope to splash some cash elsewhere. The Draftstars Gods are helping us out with this contest.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $25,000+ Sunday competition

Forward

Elliot Yeo ($12,800)

Elliot YeoOoOo has had a down couple of weeks, posting scores of 87 and 78 in close games against Melbourne and the Bulldogs. He has been spending extended stints in the middle of the ground which has seen him take less marks. I still rate Yeo as a selection that has plenty of potential to go big, and he did just that in his last game against the Power. Posted a monster 124 Draftstars points against them earlier in the year.

Joel Smith ($6,400)

Joel Smith had no luck in his AFL debut in Round 1, succumbing to a shoulder injury in the first quarter after a bright start. The 21-year-old had five disposals in the opening 15 minutes of his first game before injury struck. He looked in that time frame like a defender who is capable of winning the footy, which means his price of $6.4k is definitely unders for what he can produce. Certainly won’t be scoring 18 Draftstars points this time around.

Midfield

Lachie Neale ($14,700)

Lachie Neale has had a pretty good year, going at 101.5 Draftstars points per game along with winning 28 disposals. His past three games have been fairly impressive, averaging 107 points including a 117 point effort against the Saints. Etihad will suit his inside-outside play, and I expect Neale to be one of the Dockers leading ball-winners on Sunday afternoon.

Clayton Oliver ($13,550)

The Gold Logie nominee has made significant inroads to his acting career but his Draftstars game has been disappointing of late. Oliver hasn’t been hitting poor scores, but he has failed to hit the ton for six weeks. Maybe getting into twitter stoushes with cricketers has turned him into one, as his form is resembling Shane Watsons at the minute, posting five scores in the 90s in this period. With Nathan Jones, Jack Viney, and Dom Tyson out, I reckon Oliver will step up to the plate

Dom Sheed ($12,550)

I select this guy in my Draftstars lineups like clockwork and he just continues to deliver. Dom Sheed is averaging 89 Draftstars points this season, but his last couple of months makes for more pleasant reading. Sheed has averaged 101 points over his past seven games including four tons and scores of 98 and 96. He has excelled at Domain Stadium this year so I’m backing him in yet again to produce the goods.

Joe Atley ($7,150)

Joe Atley will make his AFL debut this weekend against the Eagles at Domain Stadium. The youngster was selected with pick 32 in last year’s draft, touted as an inside ball winning midfielder. He currently sits at a very cheap price of $7,1k, which makes him a viable selection for this contest. In the pre-season he did tend to handball more than he kicked, but I expect him to be up for the challenge on Sunday afternoon.

Defence

Sam Docherty ($16,500)

In this crazy year, there is one thing that bewilders me more than anything; why don’t opposition sides lock down on Sam Docherty? It is as if opposition coaches have the Doch in their Draftstars lineups, because they appear to not give a stuff about him getting 30 touches every week. He is averaging a whopping 122 Draftstars points per game and 134 in his past three games. Oh, and he hasn’t scored under 119 in seven weeks. Doch him in, Eddie.

Liam Jones ($8,450)

I put this bloke in when he made his debut and said that I never thought I’d put him in my Draftstars lineup. I also never thought he’d become an All-Australian tall defender, but here we are. Liam Jones posted 92 Draftstars points last week, taking nine marks and winning 19 disposals. The Dees have Jesse Hogan back and I expect Jones to man him up, and he will need to mark the footy himself to do so. At a very good price.

Ruck

Scott Lycett ($7,400)

Speaking of a good price, how about the VALUE here? Scott Lycett is yet to play a game in season 2017, but averaged 80 Draftstars points last season from his 20 games. I’d say this is a pretty good indication of what he is capable of. He will share the ruck duties, but he is still an absolute bargain considering he at just $7.4k.
