AFL $25,000+ Sunday Line-Up

We are usually feeling a bit worse for wear on a Sunday, and there is no way to cure a hangover than a bit of Sunday Draftstars. It is also pretty cruisey to share in $25,000 on offer. I have gone in with a mid-priced madness sort of operation, as there is plenty of value around in this one.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $25,000+ Sunday competition

Forward

Josh J. Kennedy ($11,750)

Josh J. Kennedy looked like he had his kicking boots on last weekend. JJK booted 6.1 from his 11 disposals and six marks, posting a total of 91 Draftstars points. This was his highest score in a couple of months, with five weeks spent on the sidelines with injury. He booted a lazy eight goals the last time he played the Lions and I can see a bag coming his way on Sunday afternoon.

Drew Petrie ($10,750)

I looked in the ruck spot for this contest and wondered, why is there only five ruckman able to be selected when there’s six teams playing? A look at the teams revealed that Drew Petrie is the sole ruck for the Eagles this weekend. Stefan Martin is certainly no straggler in the ruck department, but Petrie hasn’t been gifted the sole ruck role this season. Should give us some real nice value for money.

Midfield

Matt Crouch ($14,550)

We like to talk about Tom Mitchell’s ball-winning abilities, but how about this bloke! Despite being a handball-happy individual, Matt Crouch is ranked second for disposals this year, averaging 32 per game. His form of late has been pretty impressive, posting four tons and a 99 in his past five at an average of 109. With Sloane likely to cop the Greenwood tag, expect Crouch to gather disposals at will yet again.

Dom Sheed ($11,200)

This is really getting a bit repetitive. You might as well lock in Dom Sheed being selected in our write-ups each week. Dominic’s price is still at $11.2k despite scores of 102 and 91 in his past two matches, and he returns to his favourite hunting ground of Domain Stadium. Sheed has scored 90+ in six of his eight games at home this season, and I reckon he will feast on the carcass of the Lions along with the 21 other flat-track-bullies.

Jordan De Goey ($11,100)

Jordan De Goey has been in some stellar form of late, with Pendlebury’s injury gifting the youngster more time in the guts. De Goey booted four majors in an impressive 96 point display last weekend, backing up his 103 against Gold Coast the week before. His score of 39 three weeks ago has kept his price down, and I suggest we take advantage of this value at our disposal.

Malcolm Karpany ($9,100)

It is certainly a bit of a risk picking Malcom ‘Three’s’ Karpany, but in this daily fantasy format, it is rather necessary. Karpany comes in after a few weeks in the twos and has shown he is capable of reaching a high score. His three goals and 17 disposals against the Bulldogs yielded 95 Draftstars points, and he is certainly a chance of reaching a similar score in the likely event of an Eagles onslaught.

Defence

Shannon Hurn ($11,700)

At first I thought the Shannon Hurn monster possession tally was an anomaly, but he went and backed it up. The Weagles skipper has had a stunning fortnight, amassing scores of 137 and 117 in the past fortnight. Across this period he has averaged 32 disposals (20 kicks) and 12 marks, reverting back to his previous role as the designated kicker out of defence – as he should be, have you seen his roosts? Worth a punt.

Paul Seedsman ($9,800)

Paul Seedsman conveniently comes into the Crows line-up to face his old side. Seedsman hasn’t played a game for Adelaide this season, which surprises me because I swear I have seen him in the side at some point… Maybe just getting his confused with Adelaide’s stacked running defender/winger contingent. Anyway, I reckon Seedsman provides some value here as he has the potential to go big.

Ruck

Jordan Roughead ($9,700)

I have decided to go with the cheapest ruckman on offer. There are some pretty good options elsewhere in this contest, and Roughead has been having a solid run of it of late. Roughy is going at 75 Draftstars points over his past three games, and is again the sole ruckman on Sunday. He faces Tom Bellchambers, who was trumped in the Draftstars stakes by Majak Daw last week… Could be a big play here
