AFL $25,000+ Swans v Hawks Line-Up

These two teams have had some fierce contests over the past five years, the most significant being the 2012 and 2014 Grand Finals. However, 2017 sees two of the most successful sides in this period sitting in 12th (Swans) and 17th (Hawks). The Swans should win this one comfortably but stranger things have happened in this quirky 2017 season.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $25,000+ Swans v Hawks competition

Forward

Lance Franklin ($14,100)

Buddy has had a fair season by his lofty standards, booting 23 goals from eight games and averaging a 98 Draftstars points per game He is the highest priced forward this matchup, and I reckon he has another bag in him against his former side. Hawthorn’s defence are weakened with the loss of James Frawley, and you’d think he would be licking his lips coming up against Josh Gibson and Kurt Heatherley. Lock him in for a huge one.

Will Hayward ($6,900)

Will Hayward has managed to stick around the Swans line-up in Round 2. The youngster is going at a decent clip of 53 Draftstars points per game, with his second highest total for the season coming last week against St Kilda. Hayward posted 71 points from his 14 disposals, and I suspect he will have an easier time of it against the third Hawthorn tall.

Midfield

Josh P. Kennedy ($14,300)

Like the Swans in general, Josh P. Kennedy has been in stellar form over the past fortnight. JPK has scored two tons on the trot, scoring 105 last weekend and 122 against North Melbourne the week before. Swans are tipped as big, big favourites by the punters, and I tend to think they will get the job done pretty comfortably. Is back to his ball-winning best and should be allowed to be a stats pig like his former teammate and opposition midfielder in this match, Tom Mitchell.

Luke Hodge ($13,400)

A move to the backline has seen Luke Hodge scoring very favourably this season. The experienced campaigner is averaging 94 Draftstars points per game, scoring under 80 points on just one occasion in 2017. Hodge appears to be a reliable option and looms as a bit of a cheeky POD for this match considering the degree of Draftstars talent on offer.

Ricky Henderson ($12,350)

Ricky Henderson is another Hawk who has excelled off half-back in a Draftstars sense. Henderson is averaging 90 Draftstars points per game in his six matches to date, and I like his chances to score handsomely in the likely event that the Swans have most of the attacking play. One who likes to kick a lot more than he handballs which is just fantastic for this caper.

Callum Mills ($10,600)

Callum Mills has responded well since being picked on and practically bullied by other teams. Young Callum has averaged 80 Draftstars points over the past three weeks, 10 points more than his current seasonal average. There isn’t a great deal of midfield cheapies, so I’m putting my faith in him. Hopefully the ‘second year blues’ don’t haunt him this week!

Defence

Zak Jones ($9,700)

Zak Jones has had a couple of very poor scores on the trot, which makes him ripe for the picking this week. Jones scored 101 Draftstars points against the Lions in a monster win, and there is every chance this could happen again for him against the Hawks. I think Jones has plenty of value considering he is more than capable of reaching a Draftstars ton on Friday night.

Dane Rampe ($8,500)

Dane Rampe has been told to steer clear of any fences after his last run in with one, and played his first match back from injury last week. Rampe didn’t exactly set the world on fire in his return, though, posting a score in the 50’s. Like Jones, Rampe provides ample value as it is generally hard to find good rookies in a two team contest. Bit of a lock I reckon.

Ruck

Callum Sinclair ($9,650)

Callum Sinclair has done the lion’s share of the ruck duties since Tippett has returned. Naismith being out has seen Sinclair flourish to a degree, scoring 105 and 87 in the last 2 that Naismith hasn’t played. Up against Ben McEvoy, a poor hitout ruckman, Sinclair should be able to garner a solid score for his $9.6k pricetag.
