AFL $30,000+ Crows v Tigers Cheat Sheet

A replay of last year’s Grand Final sees kicks off a huge round two of AFL action with the Crows hosting the Tigers. The Crows would be disappointed with letting a twenty point lead slip and will be looking to get their season underway. The Tigers did enough to beat the Blues but would want to improve to beat the Crows. There have been a number of changes to teams, including the return of Taylor Walker and Bachar Houli, so make sure that you are on top of them before picking you team.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $50,000+ Tigers v Blues competition

Forward

Mitch McGovern ($9,450)

McGovern started the season with a quiet game against the Bombers, but will benefit from his captain, Taylor Walker returning. McGovern will now not have to go head to head with Alex Rance, which will most likely improve his output. At his best, McGovern is an explosive player who can dominate in the air, but he is prone to quiet patches. He looks like a good value play.

Jason Castagna ($7,650)

Castagna showed a lot of promise last week against the Blues, chiping in with two gaols and fifteen disposals, on his way to 79 DS points. Castagna also pushed up through the midfield, which hopefully is a sign of things to come for the young forward. With Prestia still likely to not play, Castagna could get even more midfield time, which makes his salary look very cheap. He is a great player to choose to fit some of the higher priced players into your team.

Midfield

Dustin Martin ($15,550)

It was business as usual for the champ as he chalked up a cool 110 DS points last week with 32 touches and a goal. Martin thrives on the big stages and there are few bigger than a grand final rematch. He should be able to bully the Adelaide midfield at stoppages and deliver at his consistently high standard. Expect another big score from Martin.

Matt Crouch ($15,500)

Crouch picked up where he left off last season with 41 disposals against the Bombers. Crouch lead the league in disposals last year and was the sixth highest DS point scorer. His ability to find the footy and accumulate possessions makes him a perfect player on Draftstars. Crouch finished with 123 DS points last week and a similar result would not surprise.

Josh Caddy ($12,300)

Caddy has been splitting his time between the midfield and forward line for the Tigers and finished with three goals on his way to 99 DS points last week. Caddy may be able to exploit the Crows’ depleted defence, playing the role James Stewart was so effective doing last week.

Rory Atkins ($10,800)

Atkins was poor last week against the Bombers, only managing to finish with 50 DS points. He was one of the many Crows who wilted as the game went on, allowing the Bombers to come back in the last quarter. The Crows will be keen to bounce back this week at home. Atkins averaged nearly 80 DS points last year, so hopefully he can return to those levels.

Defence

Kamdyn McIntosh ($9,750)

One of the more unheralded Tigers, McIntosh is a solid contributor who adds a lot of drive off the half back line. McIntosh returned a healthy 74 DS points in round one. He will be freed up with the return of Bachar Houli who along with Rance are the cornerstones of the defensive unit. If McIntosh can replicate his effort from round one, he is a great selection at his salary.

Tom Doedee ($6,350)

Doedee was one of the revelations of round one, finising with 80 DS points on his debut. Doedee has been spruiked by a few people to finish high in the rising star award as he will play a lot in the Crows’ defence. Doedee was really impressive marking the ball, which he should be able to do well against the undersized Tiger forwards. At his salary, he is a must pick.

Ruck

Toby Nankervis ($12,650)

Nankervis was the dominant ruckman on the ground last week, finishing with 33 hit-outs on his way to 81 DS points. Nankervis will be up against it this week aginst Jacobs, who is one of the best ruckmen in the league, but Nankervis should be able to hold his own, and due to the difference in salary, Nankervis gets the nod.
