AFL $30,000+ Saturday Line-Up

For the second successive week, I have managed to pick all of my players with EXACTLY $100k! What an achievement. However, not quite as good of an achievement as winning Draftstars’ Saturday contest and finishing with $30,000 in your pocket. Get amongst it, as there a number of fantastic options to choose form in this one.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $30,000+ Saturday competition

Forward

Toby Nankervis ($13,200)

Uncle Toby has been a consistent performer over the past three weeks with scores of 98, 92 and 94. His sole ton came against Melbourne’s second tier ruckman, and I’d say Nankervis will fancy his chances against Tom Bellchambers – a very average operator around the ground. Tobes on the other hand has done his best work outside the ruck contest, averaging 15 disposals per game.

Bailey Dale ($7,700)

Bailey Dale looks fairly comfortable at AFL level, averaging 59 Draftstars points per game in his three this season. Jack Macrae’s onfield doppelganger posted his highest score of the season with a 67-point effort against the Cats last weekend. We are short of genuine forward cheap options, so I see Dale as the best chance of a solid total considering he is spending most of his time on a wing.

Midfield

Marcus Bontempelli ($13,750)

The Bont had a down game at the Cattery last weekend, blanketed effectively by Mark Blicavs at stoppages. He only managed to collect 19 disposals and 73 Draftstars points, well below his usual output. The positive is his price has dropped significantly, and he looms as a bargain at $13.75k. There is the chance of a Seb Ross tag but he has been played more in a ball-winning role throughout the past month. Should redeem himself from last week’s performance.

Luke Dahlhaus ($12,700)

Lukey Dahlhaus had a poor game a couple of weeks back, forcing his price to drop. A renowned tackler, he was unable to lay a single tackle against the Eagles in Round 8. He followed this up with nine tackles and 90 Draftstars points last weekend against Geelong and like Bont, presents plenty of value. Has scored tons in his past three games at Etihad Stadium, the venue he faces the Saints at on Saturday.

David Swallow ($11,400)

David Swallow has been a frustrating Draftstars selection whose name I’ve thrown up a number of times. He returns after being on the sidelines since Round 7, when he scored 92 Draftstars points from his 23 disposals. Swallow is one of most injury prone players in the business, but surely he will be fresh after a few weeks on the sidelines. Scored 120 against the Hawks, so he certainly has the scoring potential.

Will Brodie ($7,900)

Congrats to Will Brodie, who makes his AFL debut this weekend against the Dees, and what better place to make your debut than Alice Springs? Halfway through last year, it was between Brodie and McCluggage to be the #1 pick, with an injury forcing Brodie to slip to number nine. Brodie does his best work in the coalface and should get ample midfield opportunity with Ablett out.

Defence

Jarrod Harbrow ($12,900)

Jarrod Harbrow is one who is slipping under the radar this Draftstars season. Harbrow is averaging 95 Draftstars points per game off half-back for the Suns, scoring above 80 in all but one match. He appears to be playing an incredibly fantasy friendly role, and is averaging 30 disposals in his last three games. A huge POD who could be difference for you on Saturday.

Tom McDonald ($11,650)

Tom McDonald has been revitalised in a ruck/forward role in the absence of Max Gawn and Jake Spencer. He isn’t recording great hit-out numbers, but he has clunked eight marks and gathered 22 touches per game since the move, averaging 94 Draftstars points per game. In hot and humid conditions in the middle of Australia, McDonald should get plenty of opportunity to impact the contest at TIO Traeger Park.

Ruck

Billy Longer ($8,800)

Billy Longer will be licking his chops coming up against Tom Boyd and debutant Tim English this weekend. Longer hasn’t had the best season to date (how is Tom Hickey not in over him, just quietly?), averaging 61 Draftstars points per game. His highest score in 2017 is 70 points, but I’d expect Longer to go past that on Saturday afternoon comfortably. Value option considering he is averaging 36 hitouts per game as it is.
