AFL $30,000+ Saturday Line-Up

Unfortunately, the Saturday streak is over. I had managed to spend exactly $100k two weeks in a row but this week we have fallen agonisingly close – $50 to be exact. There are a couple of interesting games this Saturday, the main one being Richmond vs North Melbourne; The Battle of the Chokers.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $30,000+ Saturday competition

Forward

Toby Greene ($13,750)

Here is one of my Draftstars favourites. Uncle Toby has served us well in 2017, averaging 90 Draftstars points per game, including a lovely 114 against the Eagles last week. With the Giants’ growing injury list, Greene is finding himself in the midfield more often, illustrated by his 25 disposals last week. He loves beating up on lesser teams, so I’d expect a bag at home versus the Bombers.

Jonathon Patton ($9,000)

Jonathon Patton has been up and down this season, with two totals exceeding 80 points but also three below 50. In fairness, the majority of young key forwards are inconsistent. I can see the Giants winning comfortably at Spotless Stadium, making it likely for Patton to get on the end of a couple. There isn’t a heap of choice in terms of forward line cheapies, with Patton probably being our best bet.

Midfield

Luke Shuey ($15,100)

Luke Shuey was a late withdrawal with injury last weekend, but he returns to face the Suns at Metricon. Shuey has proved to be a formidable scorer throughout 2017, averaging 112 Draftstars points and a low score of 88. His three round average of 102 has him sitting at a fair price, and I see him as a bit of a bargain for this one. Should dominate against the Suns.

Elliot Yeo ($13,450)

Elliot Yeo is another Eagle who has had a very impressive 2017 campaign. Yeo has amassed six totals over 110 Draftstars points and has improved his consistency levels compared to previous years. His scoring no longer resembles a Yeo-Yeo and I expect him to continue on his merry way against the Suns. I’d expect the Eagles to double team Tom Lynch wherever possible, giving Yeo ample opportunity to take marks in defence.

Pearce Hanley ($9,600)

When would be the last time we have seen Pearce Hanley at a price so low? Hanley had his first game back from injury against the Dees, managing just the eight disposals and one tackle for a meagre 30 Draftstars points. While this effort is not going to get you close to taking out the major prize, Hanley is just too good to pass up at this price. Should fare better at Metricon than in Alice Springs – as you can imagine, sunburn probably impacted the Irishman last weekend.

Matt De Boer ($9,350)

Matt De Boer is back at AFL level and he has certainly not lost his immense tackle pressure. DeBoer constrictor© has averaged 5.5 tackles per game while only winning 27 disposals across his first two games. All Giants players should fare better than usual against the Bombers, and I think De Boer is capable of a another 70+ total – as he did against the Tigers – on the weekend.

Defence

Jackson Nelson ($8,600)

This is a bit of a rare pick, considering the Eagle hadn’t scored over 70 Draftstars points until a fortnight ago. However, Nelson is in hot form (for him), scoring 77 and 72 in his past two game. He even eclipsed the 20 disposal last weekend against the Giants, getting his hands on the Sherrin on 22 occasions. I have opted to splash cash elsewhere but you could do worse than pick this lad.

Harry Perryman ($6,400)

Speaking of saving money, I certainly have with this cheap selection. Young Harry Perryman made his AFL debut two weeks ago and has averaged just the 38.5 Draftstars points over that period. I like this kid, though. He goes hard and the footy and isn’t afraid to tackle, laying seven in his first game against the Tigers. Should continue to build in confidence coming up for his third game this weekend, and an ideal score in the 60’s isn’t out of the question.

Ruck

Todd Goldstein ($14,700)

Big Toddy Goldstein had an absolute ripper against Cam Pedersen two weeks ago, posting a monster 148 Draftstars points including a whopping 63 hitouts. I reckon Goldstein has a big chance of going 40+ against the Tigers, with Nankervis an average tap ruckman. The Tigers have dropped Todd Elton as well, meaning that Shaun Grigg is likely to be Richmond’s backup ruck… Lock!
