AFL $30,000+ Saturday Line-Up

I am relieved to say this will be the LAST bye affected Draftstars Saturday, with just the three games (again) on offer. The majority of my team have come from Port Adelaide considering they are coming up against the Lions at Adelaide Oval. The only thing I’m looking forward to this Saturday is Rance vs Buddy – oh and this $30,000 contest.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $30,000+ Saturday competition

Forward

Charlie Dixon ($11,150)

Like the majority of key forwards, Charlie Dixon is inconsistent. Dixon backed up six goals and 128 Draftstars points with a dismal seven disposal, 36 point effort against the Dons. However, Dixon’s shocking game plays right into our hands, as we are able to nab him at a very cheap price. Charlie comes up against the Lions who he amassed 125 points against earlier in the season. As much as I love the work of Harris Andrews, Dixon will kick a bag on him.

Robbie Gray ($10,950)

Speaking of beating up on lesser opposition, Gray has been a player who has thrived in big wins this season. Showcased this sort of play in Port’s thumpings of Freo (138 Draftstars points) and Carlton (125 points). Clearly playing with injury, Robbie has spent almost all of his time forward in 2017 with varying results. The Power gun should get ample opportunity to kick snags on Saturday. Kicked 4.4 earlier this season against the Lions, and like Dixon, provides plenty of value considering he could have a blinder.

Midfield

Dayne Zorko ($16,050)

If this guy was playing for a Victorian club, he would be rated a lot higher by the footballing community. He is a star, and his Draftstars results this season reflect that. Zorko has averaged a monster 119 Draftstars points per game, which is monumental considering the Lions only brought up their second win last weekend. His last three have yielded scores of 131, 124 and 119, and I reckon he will score much more than he did in his last game against the Power (76).

Jared Polec ($13,150)

Jared Polec has surprisingly been scoring well while the Power have lost, which I didn’t think he had in his bag of tricks (or more correctly, his ski set). The lanky specimen has been in formidable form of late, averaging 108 Draftstars points over his past four, hitting the ton on three occasions and going 120+ twice. Does love a big win and I am sure he will get plenty of opportunity to get the skis on and fly downhill at speed.

Jake Lloyd ($12,000)

Jake Lloyd was on about 50-60 points at three quarter time last week and thought nup – I’m going to repay the Draftstars folk who had me when I got concussed and scored 2. He ended the game on 122 points, racking up some very, very, very cheap footy late in the piece. Lloyd remains at a cheap price of $12,000, which has me frothing at the mouth. Will be a popular selection in this one, and you will be missing out if you don’t have him.

Shane Edwards ($9,450)

Shane Edwards has been back in the Richmond line-up for the past month and has fared pretty well, averaging 65 Draftstars points per game. There really isn’t many midfield cheapies on offer for this contest, and considering Edwards is an experienced campaigner, I can see him being our best bet. Scored 86 points against the Pies in Round 2, so he is able to produce good scores.

Defence

Jackson Trengove ($9,700)

Jackson Trengove has spent time as a forward and rotated into the ruck this season, averaging 68 Draftstars points in what’s been a very solid year for the big man. Trengove got to his highest total of the season the last time he played the Lions, scoring 87 points, largely due to his three sausage rolls. The ball will be down Port Adelaide’s end more often than not, meaning he should prove to be a valuable selection.

Liam Jones ($9,000)

If I told you at the beginning of the year that Liam Jones would become a promising centre-half back in the Blues side, you would have thought I was very intoxicated. But it has happened, Liam Jones was very impressive for the Blues in his first game for the season, scoring 72 Draftstars points from his 14 disposals and eight marks. Kept Jonathon Patton relatively quiet and had some impact himself, and I think he is the best cheap defensive option we have in this one.

Ruck

Sam Naismith ($8,550)

Sam Naismith was solid in his first game back in the Swans line-up, posting 67 Draftstars points against the Bulldogs. He was up against fairly average ruckman in Tim English (aka the stick insect) and Jordan Roughead. This week he faces former teammate Toby Nankervis, who is also fairly average in the hit-out department. Expert Naismith to be on top in ruck contests and reach a reasonable total.
