AFL $50,000+ SATURDAY Line-Up

Crouch, Brad Bit of a mixed bag here. There are a couple of interesting matches in this Saturday contest, and a couple that look like absolute shockers. Bulldogs vs Lions headlines the stinkers and the fabled Battle of the Bridge looms as match of the day. And once again, there is no shortage of options on offer.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $50,000+ Saturday competition

Forward

Charlie Cameron ($10,900)

This guy has gone to another level in 2017. Don Pyke injecting Charlie Cameron into the middle has done wonders for his scoring, averaging over 20 more Draftstars points per game than last season. Up against the Suns this weekend, I am backing CC to be too quick for his opponents both in the midfield and up forward*. His rise has to be recognised as his price tag is probably lower than it should be.
*Except if he is on Adam Saad…

Riley Knight ($8,500)

Knight has made the most of his opportunities since being a late inclusion in Round 1, averaging a modest 73.5 Draftstars points per game. All four of his scores have been between the 69-80 mark so expect that and then some against the Suns. Like Cameron, he should have the opportunity to kick a couple of snags as the ball should be inside their 50m arc more often than not.

Midfield

Nat Fyfe ($15,400)

Fyfe has had a relatively slow start to the season, failing to register a Draftstars score above the 120-point barrier. In my eyes, he is due for a monster. Last time he played North Melbourne he amassed 137 points despite receiving a tag from serial pest Ben Jacobs. He may have Trent Dumont to deal with on Saturday night, but I expect Fyfe to register his highest score for the year in this encounter.

Josh Kelly ($14,350)

The ‘Nine Million Dollar Man’ as they are calling him is showing he is worth the hefty pay packet more and more by the week. Kelly has collected 29 disposals and 110 Draftstars points per game so far this season, including an impressive score of 127 against the Power. It wasn’t just his ball-winning that got him there either, laying 10 tackles in the Giants win. He will need to lay some tackles in the Battle of the Bridge – the poor man’s Showdown – and I can see him doing this and racking up the Sherrin yet again.

Brad Crouch ($11,400)

Brad Crouch – the man, the myth, the Draftstars legend, is BACK! Crouch wins the footy in his sleep, but reoccurring injuries have kept him on the sidelines. And unlike his brother Matt, he actually kicks the bloody thing. Crouch had a lazy 40 in the SANFL a fortnight ago and had 31 possies last week, so he should be able to accumulate 25+ against the Suns. Lets not forget that Crouch had an average of 92 Draftstars points in his first playing season.

David Swallow ($10,650)

Admittedly, we have put this bloke in just about every week and he hadn’t failed us… until last week. Swallow was on another planet last Saturday night, gathering just the 13 disposals and scoring a measly 47 points… In fairness, he apparently came into the game with an ankle niggle, and he has been selected this week so he should be 100%. Fool me once, shame on you. Hopefully you don’t fool me twice, Dave.

Martin, Stefan

Defence

Andy Otten ($8,000)

We spoke about Charlie Cameron lifting, but how about the work of big Andy Otten! Otten has kicked more goals this year than he probably has across his whole career, booting five goals in the past three games. With Jenkins remaining out of the side, Otten should remain in the key forward/second ruck role that has seen his scoring potential rise somewhat. The Suns have no May or Thompson, so we should see him kick at least a couple of goals. In fact, Jack Leslie is Gold Coast’s #1 defender…

Ed Vickers-Willis ($6,400)

Congrats hyphen, you are finally making your Roos debut! Vickers-Willis was solid during the JLT Community Series and was a little stiff not to be rewarded with a game in the first four rounds, but now comes in on the back of a 30 disposal game in the VFL. Don’t expect this sort of display from him on the weekend, but a 60 point effort would certainly justify his cheap price tag of $6.4K

Ruck

Stefan Martin ($14,250)

Stefan Martin comes up against Tom Campbell this weekend after absolutely dominating Toby Nankervis last Sunday. Martin scored 52 Draftstars points from hitouts alone, scoring 114 points against the Tigers. I would expect him to defeat Campbell in a similar manner, even with the Bulldogs pencilled in as almost certain victors. Averaging a casual 115 points, 21 disposals and 43 hitouts so far this season, and this sort of form won’t be stopping on Saturday afternoon.
