AFLW R6 – $1,500 SATURDAY CONTEST

Absolutely ripping three-gamer that I can see being the highest-scoring AFLW contest of the season. With all three games being played on proper AFL surfaces, there will be plenty of space so expect the high-possession winners to rack up more points than usual. Oh yeh, and Collingwood are going to get puuuuumped.

Selection

Kaitlyn Ashmore ($13,270): To cash tonight you will need to have some exposure to the Kangaroos forward line because the ball will be living in there for vast majority of the game. Ash Brazill is the only Magpie with the speed to match Ashmore but I just can’t see them using Brazill that way as it will expose the Pies deep. This should leave Ashmore to rack up the lead-mark-kick points and hopefully drift deeper for the odd goal or two. Coming off a 102pt effort against the Crows which I’m not sure she can hit but the form is solid. Expecting a 75+ game here though.

Katie Brennan ($10,770): I expect the Dees to win this game comfortably but before they do, Brennan will have a 20+ disposal game on the wing for the Dogs. Loved her move up the ground last start and I expect that continues on the wide open pastures of Marvel where the Dogs will look to Brennan every chance they get. One of the value plays of the slate for mine.

Emma Kearney ($16,430): Coming off a 31 disposal, 8 mark, 4 tackle 129pt game and gets an opponent who, like Adelaide, wont tag her. Will be in everything and should absolutely dominate again.

Mon Conti ($13,210): Trying to target the late game and in particular the solid ball users who can also tackle. Conti fits that bill coming off a 20 disposal, 8 tackle game. Will play on-ball against a tough midfield so she should rack up the tackles here. Can repeat her 75+ effort last start.

Matilda Sergeant ($5,000): It did not translate to the stat sheet but I really liked Sergeant’s game against the Bulldogs. Has the inside and outside skills to score well in fantasy and at the flat minimum she only need to hit the 30pts she scored last week to be super value. Expect she clears that second up. Hopefully the 30pt average keeps a few away but possibly could be chalky with so much premium plays on this slate.

Lilly Mithen ($13,880): Like Conti, Mithen can tackle and she racks up the possessions and on a deck that will be conducive to good possession footy I can see Mithen returning a nice 70+ tonight.

Evangeline Gooch ($7,380): Look at Gooch’s season average of 35pts and you will likely pass, but look a bit closer and there is some appeal here at great ownership. Her two 50pt games have come in tight contests where the Freo midfield was challenged and I can see that happening here. Geelong are good enough to get Gooch into the game and if we can get a 40-50pt return for that 7k price tag I’ll take that every time.

Mel Hickey ($7,600): Like Gooch, the price tag on Hickey is low enough that a 30pt stinker wont kill the team but Hickey has been trending up in her three games and I think she can give 50+ a good nudge today in what is a vitally important game, at home, for the Cats.

Emma King ($12,430): Absolute lock of the week in the ruck, have to pay up for big King against the old firm. She can and should kick 4 goals tonight, and has Hynes covered for height. Expect to see her give a maiden fantasy ton a good shake.
