BBL08 CONTEST PREVIEW GAME 14: STRIKERS v THUNDER

“This is an each-way bet side but on a pitch that will provide an even contest (and hopefully some runs) I am comfortable prioritising batsman over bowlers.”

The Re-cap

Honestly, if my 3 yr old son dropped that catch that Berehndorff spilt he’d get a smack. What does a coach have to do! Due some luck doesn’t even come close to describing the feeling of nailing the last 4 games in terms of scripts but failing on the DFS front. Luckily we get two sides here who can both bat on a wicket that will let them. If you can’t trust the Adelaide Oval we may as well pack it in now.

Likely XI’s

Strikers – Carey, Weatherald, Short, Ingram, Wells, Lehman, Neser, Khan, Siddle, Laughlin, Stanlake (O’Connor, Valente)

  • Siddle will come straight in, likely for Valente. Not much else to speak of. The Strikers remain a 5-out-all-out team in my book so targeting the death bowlers for the Thunder is solid.

Thunder – Watson, Buttler, Ferguson, Root, Sangha, Sams, Green, Nair, Rainbird, McAndrew Ahmed (Sandhu, Cook)

  • If I am the Thunder I’m taking Nair for his batting over Cook despite two solid games.

Selection Committee

It’s always tough to give a lineup without knowing who is batting first etc but this side should not deviate too much points wise whatever happens at the toss. The Thunder showed last start they are very fragile at the top asnd with the Strikers attack getting siddle back I don’t expect they will have much respite. Building for a Thunder lower-order rearguard into Strikers bowlers/top order tonight.

Selection

Callum Ferguson ($10,200): Returns to his home pitch and can play Khaan which is more than id say for the rest of the batting lineup. Way too cheap for a first drop on a pitch he knows well.

Jason Sangha ($11,400): I’m not leaving home without the Sausage this BBL08 purely on the back of what I saw game 1. When he sizzles its game over for everyone who doesn’t have him because he will always go in sub 30% owned. I expect early wickets to fall and hopefully Sangha can come on right at the end of Rashid Khan’s spell then go bang.

Jake Weatherald ($15,000): Carey isa fade for me tonight. I don’t love it but he will be highly owned so im staying away. Weatherald is on the crest of a monster dfs score. Has been seeing them like beach balls and can go huge if he gets in.

Colin Ingram ($13,900): There is due and then there is Colin Ingram. He will have a big game at some stage and I’m not missing it when he does. Hopefully Carey goes cheaply in a low run chase and Ingram stays around with Weatherald.

Rashid Khan ($22,300): A must-play in my opinion. Great floor of around 45pts. Has Joe Roots name on one tonight.

Ben Laughlin ($11,700): I like pairing Laughlin with Khan because if Khan has a big game it means Laughlin is bowling death overs to bowlers which means a big game for him as well. Always in the game for a catch or runout as well. Great price.

Chris Green ($12,300): If we want Carey to go cheaply then Green could be our way to make it happen. Provides a little bit of batting as well. Can have a big game and will be low-owned.

Final Thought

This is an each-way bet side but on a pitch that will provide an even contest (and hopefully some runs) I am comfortable prioritising batsman over bowlers.
