BBL08 GAMES 48: Heat v Scorchers

Assuming the Heat start well and the lights stay on, this game should clock 370+ runs so I’m stacking batsman tonight

The Re-cap

The Hurricanes were due a poor game and we were nearly on top of it, missing out on Matty Wade hurt and cost us the cash in the end. Now we turn to the Gabba where two grossly underperformed teams meet to try and restore a little bit of pride in failed seasons.

Likely XI’s

Game 47: Heat v Scorchers @ Gabba

Heat – McCullum, Bryant, Lynn, Renshaw, Alex Ross, Pierson, Cutting, Kuhnemann Lalor, Doggett, Mujeeb (Prestwidge, Hazelett)

  • Swepson out, Hazelett in. Doubt we will see him in the final XI though, more likely to play Kuhnemann or Prestwidge and keep the top 7 intact.

Scorchers – S. Marsh, Bancroft, Turner, M. Marsh, Cartwright, Inglis, Hinchcliff, Tye, Kelly, Behrendorff, Quadir, (Hobson, Guthrie)

  • Inglis is back in and should play, ditto young all rounder Hinchcliff. No Coulter-Nile means Kelly will get the new ball with Behrendorff. Expect the Scorchers all-rounders to get a few overs tonight.

Selection Committee

Not too much to delve into tonight, both teams have bowled pretty poorly this season and the Gabba has been playing like a road this season so taking as many quality, top order batsman as you can looks a solid play tonight. Assuming the Heat start well and the lights stay on, this game should clock 370+ runs so I am taking the class batsman and hoping they go nuts. Sprinkling a few Scorcher bowlers in at the end because of their price and because the Heat bowlers are horrible.

Team: Lynn, S Marsh, Turner, Bryant, M Marsh, Quadir, Kelly.

Final Thoughts

Very small chance of rain about this evening in Brisbane but monitor radar closer to start time – if one side is likely to lose a few overs it will really matter in terms of selection. Sprinkle in some McCullum and Bancroft as well – get access to as many top order as you can. It’s also a good play to have a team stack , if playing multiples, of the team batting first as both these sides have been woeful under chasing pressure this season.
