BBL08 GAMES 49: Sixers v Thunder

Thunder all-rounder Daniel Sams is due for runs, Ben Dwarsius is in great form and I’ll never go to the SCG without SOK!

The Re-cap

Honestly, how do you get out to the Heat, at the Gabba. That’s like being invaded by the Solomon Islands. I don’t even want to talk about it. Moving on to two teams that are playing like they care still.

Likely XI’s

Game 48: Sixers v Thunder @ SCG

Sixers – Phillipe, Hughes, Vince, Henriques, Silk, Edwards, Curran, Abbott, O’Keefe, Dwarsius, B Manenti (M. Edwards, Pope)

  • Lloyd Pope is always a strong chance to play at this SCG, likely to come in for Edwards so the Sixers can field three spinners. With Henriques in form with the bat they will question why they need such a long batting order.

Thunder – Watson, Devcich, Ferguson, Sangha, Sams, Holt, Green, Nair, Jordan, Sandhu, Ahmed (Cook, McAndrew)

  • Likely to play a third spinner on this SCG deck which doesn’t bode well for McAndrew. Expect Baxter Holt to be elevated tonight after his debut heroics.

Selection Committee

It is really hard not to go into this game not liking Ben Dwarsius who bowled superbly last game against the Strikers. I think he can repeat that here which puts Watson and Ferguson under early pressure and brings that Thunder middle order into play.

Going for a nice balanced lineup tonight that leans Sixers but covers me for a pretty close game which is what I expect we will see at the SCG tonight with both sides still in the finals hunt. Sams is due for runs so I like him as a third bowler, and I’ll never go to the SCG without SOK!

Sangha and Devcich are both far too cheap and both are due for runs. Hoping Phillipe and Vince take the bulks of the Sixers runs because the field will be heavy on Henriques. Happy to fade him.

Team: Vince, Phillipe, Sangha, Devcich, Sams, O’Keefe, Dwarsius

Final Thoughts

This team is about balance, exposure and value. It is built around Dwarsius knocking over a few early wickets but if luck falls our way tonight this team can go very very deep.
