BBL08 SEMI FINAL #2: RENEGADES V SIXERS

I don’t expect either top order to hang around long with how well I think the conditions will suit both Richardson and Dwashuis

Last Chance Dance

It has not been the successful BBL08 campaign we’d hoped for in terms of collects. Just a good player out of luck i guess but the fingers are crossed that luck turns for the final game. We’ve picked a very unique lineup so if all goes well it’s straight to the pointy end (and out of the red!) we go.

Likely XI’s

Game 57: Hurricanes v Stars @ Bellerive Oval, Hobart

Renegades – Harris, Finch, Harper, Cooper, Harvey, Christian, Boyce, Wildermuth, Tremain, Richardson, Gurney (White, Holland)

  • Nabi out, White into the XIII. Not sure he plays though, reckon he is in a battle with Wildermuth who has bowled really well at Marvel all season. He can also bat abit and with Boyce coming off the fastest BBL 50 of the comp they could look at that lower order with some confidence. Expect Cooper to bowl 2 overs if White does play. Can’t see Holland getting a game.

Sixers – Phillipe, Hughes, Vince, Henriques, Silk, Edwards, Abbott, Lyon, O’Keefe, M Edwards, Dwarsius, (Avendano, Manenti)

  • No Tom Curran really hurts the Sixers, especially on this deck where he would have been very effective. His spot looks to be a battle between Mickey Edwards or Justin Avendano. Either way I expect that Henriques will bowl 1-2 overs but if they opt for Avendano then Henriques is fifth bowler with literally no 6th option (unless you count Vince’s gentle medium pacers).

Selection Committee

I’m assuming the Renegades play Wildermuth here so if they don’t, some readjustments to the team will be necessary. I can see either of these teams folding like a deck chair on this pitch which makes me want to play three teams and stack both bowling units. This team is a middle ground type lineup which needs to get real lucky but can be used regardless of which team wins the toss.

Team: Henriques, Silk, Christian, Wildermuth, Richardson, Dwarshuis, Boyce

Final Thoughts

I don’t expect either top order to hang around long with how well I think the conditions will suit both Richardson and Dwashuis so I have got some exposure to middle order batsman and made sure I also have the all-rounders in there who are both strong chances to bowl tonight. If Wildermuth does miss out, I’d play Harvey and Gurney instead of Wildermuth/Boyce.
