The second leg of tonight’s double header sees a match which has massive finals implications. The top of the table Perth Scorchers take on the red hot Melbourne Stars. The Scorchers belted the Heat in their last match, bowling out their all-powerful batting lineup for just 129. The Stars won a thriller against the strikers on the back of some Hilfy heroics. Draftstars will be running an $8,000 game for this match, with $1,600 going to first place. This match is also round one of the $2k Draftstars BBL Tournament, so don’t forget to get your entries in for that one!

Here is a team you may consider for the BBL $8k+ Scorchers v Stars competition:

Wicketkeeper

Peter Handscomb ($16,700)

With the uncertainty over the availability of Sam Whiteman, we will err on the side of caution and pick Handscomb here. Handscomb has been in brilliant form for Australia, but was dismissed cheaply against the Strikers. With the call up of Glenn Maxwell, Handscomb will be batting at number 4, so he will get a good opportunity to make a big score. He is a quality player who will most likely not be held down for two matches in a row.

Batsmen

Rob Quiney ($14,500)

There is little doubt that Quiney is in career best form. He has been fantastic in his three matches so far, scoring 157 runs. What is more remarkable is that 118 of his runs have come via boundaries, a staggering 74% of his runs. His strike rate in BBL06 is 174. All of these stats a phenomenal, let us hope that Quiney continues his hot streak.

Michael Klinger ($13,450)

Another opening batsmen in great form, Klinger was dominant against the Heat, scoring 81 off 54 balls. Klinger was the only batsmen throughout that match that looked like scoring, when everyone else was crumbling, he stood tall and posted a score that the Heat could not chase down. He loves batting at the WACA so he should be in for some more runs here.

Bowlers

Scott Boland ($13,750)

After a slow start to BBL06, Boland has fought back very well in his last three matches, taking seven wickets, including career best figures of 4/30 in his last match. Boland is an exceptional fast bowler at the death of an innings, he is very accurate with his yorkers and has the knack of picking up batsmen looking to take risks against him. He is sometimes expensive, but his wicket taking ability should see him amongst the points.

Tim Bresnan ($13,250)

The former England international has come in to the scorchers squad to replace his fellow countryman David Wiley. Bresnan bowled quite well against the Heat, picking up two wickets from his four overs. Bresnan was a quality bowler in his prime who compliments the rest of the Scorchers attack. He also has a great chance to pick up wickets because opponents may prefer to take risks against him rather than Tye or Johnson.

Allrounder

Ashton Agar ($14,500)

Agar has not been in the best of form so far in BBL06, but that is mainly due to his lack of opportunity to impact the match. Agar has not had an innings longer than 10 balls, but he is contributing with the ball and in the field. Agar will be getting more of an opportunity with no Mitchell Marsh in the team, so he looks well placed to score big in this match.

Flex

Ashton Turner ($11,250)

Picking Turner is essentially picking a second allrounder. He is destructive with the bat when finishing off an innings and he usually bowls a couple of overs in the power play. Turner is averaging over 60 DS points so far in BBL06 and at his salary, if Turner can return his average points, it will take you a long way to winning.
