AFL $40,000+ SATURDAY CONTEST

Firstly, May the 4th be with you all. Secondly, what a cracking five-game slate!

Big news out of the Giants camp is Josh Kelly is out, ditto Phil Davis. With Whitfield already out there is a critical mass of midfield disposals that need to be absorbed which makes a GWS midfield stack an extremely tempting option.

The late game in Perth will lure plenty to it in terms of stacks but that GWS news yesterday is too tempting for me – we will be building around the Giants onballers and trying to insert value elsewhere into the build.

Here is my team you can consider using, or building around, for this cracking Saturday $40,000+ contest.

FORWARD

Toby Greene ($10,810):GWS is the flavour of this team and without Whitfield and Kelly there is an increased role here for Greene no doubt. He will be involved whether it is more onball minutes or just an increased workrate at half forward, can repeat his last-start 100.

Jack Petruccelle ($6,710): Giving JP another chance as all Eagles were horrible last week in Geelong. Against the Suns who don’t have anyone fast enough to go with him, I expect Petruccelle to clock 10+ disposals, a few tackles and 2-3 goals which equals a big value game at such a low price.

MIDFIELD

Tim Taranto ($14,380): The midfield stack for the Giants starts with Taranto. He will likely be 50% owned today but i don’t care, i’ll have him 100%. Is as close to a can’t-fail spot as they get. 110-130pt return.

Jacob Hopper ($12,010):Like Taranto, Hopper must shoulder much of the load in the midfield for the Giants today. Great price, great spot – could very well be the highest owned player on the slate but again, don’t care.

Jackson Hately ($8,150):The man coming in for Kelly is youngster Hately who impressed on debut with an 84pt effort. That was with Whitfield in the side racking them up. Expect the kid gets at least value and gives the 100 a good nudge.

Will Hayes ($8,430): Hayes has been excellent in his first two games and if he can put his tackling and disposals together in a game he will return a big value game. Highly owned again i suspect but the value is too good, we will look for difference elsewhere.

DEFENDERS

Shane Savage ($12,610): Someone who is likely to go overlooked today is Savage. With Sicily in a great spot and plenty of value in the Tigers backmen, Savage should go sub 10% owned. Increased role sans Geary and now no Stevens which only adds to his responsibilities leadership and effort wise.

Zac Williams ($11,290):The last of five Giants and someone who has been averaging over 15 kicks per game this season. Last start was 24 kicks. That’s almost 75 points before he marks the footy of gives hands!

RUCK

Max Gawn ($15,170):The big POD play is Gawny in the ruck today against McEvoy. Gawn has traditionally smashed big boy and with Hickey coming off that 140+ monster, Nankervis in the English spot and Mumford coming off a big game, I can see Gawn being single digits here. the rucks on this slate are all volatile too so a monster 140+ could break the slate for us.
