Looking to bolster your own line-up? Here’s a few best buys to consider.

Defenders

Nic Newman – Sydney Swans – $14,000

Newman enters this round’s Hawthorn clash on the back of back-to-back 100+ point scores. His position in the side is no longer in question after these games, and after already scoring 93 points in his only game at the SCG this season, another haul is surely on the cards.

Michael Hibberd – Melbourne – $13,350

Hibberd has slotted in nicely in Melbourne’s defence and has two 100+ point scores to his name in consecutive weeks. Since coming into the side in Round 5, he ranks No.1 at the club for kicks and uncontested possessions and second overall for disposals. Hibberd has won at least 24 disposals in every match.

Jeremy Howe – Collingwood – $12,650

Not only does Howe excel at winning the ball back off the opposition, the Magpies love getting the ball into his hands as well, ranking No.1 at the club for defensive half uncontested marks. Howe is coming off a season-high 125 points last round against Hawthorn.

Forward

Lance Franklin – Sydney Swans – $14,100

Lance Franklin will be looking forward to this week’s clash against Hawthorn. The Hawks are the second-easiest side to score against once entering the forward 50 this season, conceding 16 goals per game – ranked 16th. Franklin scored 133 points in his last home game in Round 7.

Midfielder/Forward

Hugh Greenwood – Adelaide Crows – $11,150

Greenwood shone on his AFL debut last round against Brisbane, applying a game-high nine tackles on his way to 93 points. He also hit the scoreboard and booted three goals straight. He’s nicely priced in Draftstars and is close to a must-have in all forms of fantasy.

Midfielders

Zach Merrett – Essendon – $17,350

With scores of 137 and 150 points in his past two games at the MCG, Merrett’s inclusion is a no-brainer this week in Draftstars. He finished with 115 points in last year’s corresponding Round 10 clash against Richmond, posting an even more impressive 152 points when it last met in Round 17.

Adam Treloar – Collingwood – $15,400

With the third-highest expected score of any player for Round 10, Treloar is a sound investment in Draftstars this week. He was particularly strong after half time last week against the Hawks, recording 22 disposals and 81 points of his match tally of 122. Treloar also boasts a terrific record against the Lions.

Dayne Beams – Brisbane Lions – $14,600

With no Tom Rockliff in the midfield, Beams took control last week against Adelaide, amassing a season-high 144 points. He has been a solid performer at the MCG since 2012, averaging 28 disposals, four tackles and 107 points from 35 games played.

Josh P. Kennedy – Sydney Swans – $14,300

Kennedy has always relished facing former side Hawthorn. Scoring 267 more points against the Hawks than any other Swan since 2010, he scored 131 points against them in Round 17 last season – his second-highest score over this period. Kennedy scored 105 points last week against the Saints.

Ruck

Jarrod Witts – Gold Coast Suns – $11,400

With a well-earned rest under his belt, Witts is likely to dominate ruck contests this round against Melbourne, making him the perfect selection in the ruck department. Since Cam Pedersen (this round’s opponent) came into the side in Round 6, the Demons have conceded the most hitouts of any side (62 per game).
