Looking to bolster your own line-up? Here’s a few best buys to consider.

Defenders

Rory Laird – Adelaide Crows – $14,750

With two games of 30+ disposals already this season, Laird once again presents himself as a viable fantasy option. He needs to do a lot better than his previous interstate match in Round 2 against Hawthorn, finishing with a season-low 21 disposals. Laird finished with 32 disposals and 104 points when he last came up against Gold Coast in Round 17, 2016.

Jarrod Harbrow – Gold Coast Suns – $13,650

Harbrow has found plenty of the ball in his two games this season, averaging a career-high 25 disposals. He ranks third at the Suns for uncontested possessions per game with 18, of which 10 have been directly from handball-receives. Harbrow has also improved his uncontested marks to six per game, a career-high return.

Christian Salem – Melbourne – $12,050

Playing deeper in defence than ever before, Salem has improved his output in most key measures in 2017 – averaging career-highs for disposals, marks and uncontested possessions. He has demonstrated great consistency, winning at least 20 disposals in every match so far, ranking seventh in the AFL for disposals among defenders.

Forwards

Jack Riewoldt – Richmond – $12,300

With the Tigers generating the second-most inside 50s of any side this season, Riewoldt should see plenty of the ball on Monday night. The spearhead is averaging a career-high 15 disposals and 89 points, but it’s his defensive play that has shone – averaging a career-high 4.3 tackles.

Midfielder/Forward

Elliot Yeo – West Coast Eagles – $13,150

Yeo looks a transformed player in 2017. He is dominating in a role across half back, reaching 25 disposals in all but one match – averaging a career-high of 25. He is covering plenty of territory, ranking No.1 at West Coast for inside 50s/rebound 50s combined.

Midfielders

Scott Pendlebury – Collingwood – $16,000

Pendlebury has an exceptional record against Essendon since 2010 – averaging 30 disposals, five tackles and 115 points. He is an absolute certainty to hit 100+ points again on Anzac Day, making him the ideal midfield option in fantasy. Pendlebury has taken his defensive game to a new level in 2017, averaging a career-high 6.3 tackles.

Aaron Hall – Gold Coast Suns – $15,650

Hall’s average of 108 points at Metricon Stadium since the start of last season is the highest of any Suns player to feature in at least three games. He has dropped below 90 points just once in 10 games, collecting 122 points in his last match at home against the Hawks in Round 3.

Andrew Gaff – West Coast Eagles – $14,850

Gaff will be looking to add to Hawthorn’s woes this Sunday at the MCG. The Hawks are conceding an average of 99 points to midfielders this season – the most of any side. Gaff is in terrific form and ranks No.1 in the AFL for uncontested possessions, second for handball-receives and third for disposals after four rounds.

David Mundy – Fremantle – $14,250

Mundy’s new role has seen his fantasy scores receive a considerable boost. After Ross Lyon experimented with him in defence, he has now been swung into attack with devastating effect – booting five goals from his past two games. Mundy has also applied a combined 14 tackles across these games.

Rucks

Brodie Grundy – Collingwood – $15,550

With Essendon conceding a whopping 110 points per game to ruckmen this season, Grundy is the No.1 ruck target for the round. His ability to win the ball around the ground is only surpassed by Stefan Martin (21 disposals) – averaging 20 disposals of his own. Grundy is averaging a career-high 117 points in 2017.
