The Late Cut: BBL $10k+ Hurricanes v Strikers

bellreive

After double the fun last night, we are back to one match tonight, with the Hobart Hurricanes taking on the Adelaide Strikers. Both teams are evenly matched, both recording one win and two losses to start the season. Both teams will be looking to get back into the finals race with a win here. Draftstars will be running a $10,000 game for this match, with $2,000 going to first place.

Here is a team you may consider for the BBL $10k+ Strikers v Sixers competition:

Wicketkeeper

Tim Paine ($16,350)

After a hot start, Paine came crashing back down in his last match, scoring nine runs on his way to 15 DS points. In his previous two matches, Paine had cracked the ton both times. He is the second leading run scorer in the tournament behind the all-conquering Chris Lynn. Paine needs to get his team off to a good start, because their bowling has looked shaky, so if they are to win, Hobart need a big score.

Batsmen

Jake Weatherald ($8,000)

Weatherald is a great value pick for this match. He is on the cheapest salary and he will most likely open the batting for the Strikers. Weatherald got off to a quick start against the Sixers, scoring 18 before going out, resulting in 38 DS points. A similar performance is good enough as any player that nets you between 4 and 5 points per thousand dollars salary is worth picking.

Brad Hodge (12,950)

Even at the ripe old age of 42, Hodge is batting as well as ever. He has scored 119 runs for the tournament, including 36 in his last match against the Sixers, where he promoted himself to the top of the order. Back the experience of the wily veteran here against the average Hurricanes bowling lineup.

Bowlers

Ben Laughlin ($13,500)

Laughlin bowled really well in his last match against the Sixers, picking up figures of 2/10 from four overs. Laughlin started the Big Bash slowly, only playing one out of the Strikers two matches. He is back in the fold now and will hopefully continue his form into this match.

Chris Jordan ($17,400)

Jordan has been the Strikers best player so far this tournament. He has taken six wickets in his three games, averaging nearly 82 DS points. It goes without saying that the Strikers are going to miss him big time when he leaves to meet up with the English ODI team in India. Jordan is handy with the bat, scoring 18 in his last match as well as an exceptional outfielder.

Allrounder

Kieron Pollard ($21,500)

Much like most of his Adelaide teammates, Pollard has had a subdued start to BBL06. He has taken three wickets across three matches and scored a measly 34 runs. Even with those poor stats, Pollard is still averaging nearly 60 DS points. I think tonight is the night where he goes big. Pollard is too good a player to be quiet for this long.

Flex

Billy Stanlake ($9,500)

Stanlake ripped through the Sixers taking three wickets, including the comical wicket of Brad Haddin, who trod on his stumps. Stanlake is a tricky bowler to face due to his height and is well worth a punt at his salary.
