The Late Cut: BBL $7k+ Thunder v Strikers
This match kicks off the last round of regular season matches. All teams have now played seven matches and it is a very congested ladder. There is two matches separating seven of the eight teams, which means that they are all must win matches if they wish to play finals. The Sydney Thunder are probably the form team of the competition right now, their season totally changed after the last ball six to Eoin Morgan, they were cellar dwellers and now they are a realistic finals threat. The strikers are the only team knocked out of finals, but they will be playing for pride, it is probably Brad Hodge’s last match in the Big Bash, so they will want to go out on a good note. Draftstars will be running a $7,000 game for this match, with $1,400 going to first place.

Wicketkeeper
Ben Dunk ($14,750)
Dunk has been one of the few positives for the Strikers in BBL06. He has scored 299 runs for the tournament at a strike rate of 164. He has been super consistent, only scoring below 30 on one occasion. He averages an incredible 77.6 DS points for the tournament and there is little doubt that he should be included in the team of the tournament. Back him here to go out with a bang and get yet another big score.
Batsmen
James Vince ($14,250)
The stylish left handed opener has been instrumental in turning the Thunder’s season around. Whilst he has only played in two matches, they have both resulted in wins. He has scored a total of 72 runs in his two innings at a healthy strike rate of 157. There is no reason why he cannot do it again against the undermanned bowling lineup of the Strikers.
Brad Hodge ($14,250)
Hodge was his ever consistent self against the Renegades in his last match, scoring yet another 20-odd to take him tally to six out of seven innings above 20 runs (his other score was 17). Hodge comes into bat usually when he has time to play himself in, which allows hi m to start hitting out when he is already set. It is likely going to be Hodge’s last Big Bash game, so he will be keen to give us something o remember him by. Watch for something special.
Bowlers
Ish Sodhi ($11,500)
The crafty leg spinner has been very solid for the Strikers since coming in to replace Chris Jordan. He was unplayable against the Stars in his first match, picking up two wickets and was also quite good against the Renegades picking up one wicket. It has been very hot in Sydney lately, so the pitch will be dry and Spotless Stadium is normally spinner friendly, so it could be a big night for Sodhi.
Chris Green ($15,250)
Green has been one of the revelations of the tournament. He is a young off spinner who went from limited playing time last season, to a mainstay of the Thunder attack. He has picked up 7 wickets for the tournament at a healthy economy rate of 6.92 runs per over. He is also a solid lower order hitter capable of providing some late runs.
Allrounder
Carlos Brathwaite ($16,500)
As unfortunate as the Russell injury was, the Thunder have lost nothing, bringing in Brathwaite. The West Indian T20 captain has been brilliant with the ball, picking up 5 wickets from the seven overs he has bowled in his two matches. Brathwaite has averaged 91.5 DS points in his two matches, making him an elite allrounder.
Flex
Ben Laughlin ($13,500)
After the injury to Kane Richardson, Ben Laughlin has had to shoulder the responsibility of being the main strike bowler for the Strikers. He has done a brilliant job. Laughlin has picked up 7 wickets in his last three matches, averaging 94 DS points in that period. He has cracked the ton in his last two matches. In a matchup between two teams with questionable batting lineups, it seems an obvious choice to side with a bowler in your flex position, back Laughlin to continue his hot form.
