NBA $5,000+ Tuesday Best Buy
The Tuesday NBA Draftstars competition sees 10 games on deck to select our lineups from. With many high-powered offenses in play and a couple of teams on the second night of a back to back, it looks to be an entertaining night of basketball in store.
Here is a team you may consider for the NBA Tuesday $5K competition:
Point Guard
John Wall ($19,900)
The Wizards point guard must be cursing his luck as he looks at the franchise around him. Whilst Wall is getting his stats, the Wizards are unable to win at the moment. However, a visit from the Phoenix Suns might be what the doctor ordered. The Suns are a young, high-paced team, ensuring that there will be plenty of possessions and opportunities. Basically, without Wall the Wizards are nothing so expect a strong showing.
Sergio Rodriguez ($8,700)
The man they call “Spanish Chocolate” is back in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers and making a much better fist of running the point in comparison to his first attempt a decade ago. With a nickname like “Spanish Chocolate”, it is nigh on impossible to keep him out of your lineups and he will be a good source of assists and rebounds from the position.
Shooting Guard
J.J. Redick ($8,900)
The Clippers shooting guard is in a hot stretch and you have to ride the hot hand as a shooter. He isn’t going to contribute much in rebounds and assists, but Reddick is a deadly marksman from outside the arc, meaning that he is a source of the elusive four point fantasy play.
Jonathon Gibson ($5,000)
The man was unemployed a week ago but the depleted Dallas Mavericks took a punt on him and after his performance against Orlando he is now a must have. He’s played two games and averaged 26 minutes per game which is important. On a team bereft of shooters, the man can get buckets and get points for our teams.
Small Forward
Otto Porter ($13,350)
Another member of the Wizards, Porter is experiencing a breakout season and finally showing why he was drafted with the 3rd pick in 2013. With Markieff Morris doubtful with an injury, Porter will likely play a big more power forward as well, meaning that he is a good chance to grab double digit rebounds. If he can add a couple of defensive stats in a high paced game, he should be good for a 35+ score.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist ($10,600)
Another player who was drafted highly, MKG has struggled to live up to his hype as a number two pick, mainly due to his broken shot. This season though, his shot selection has improved and he is an absolute force on defence. Against the Grizzlies, it will be a true defensive battle, meaning that there will be plenty of rebounds, steals and blocks on offer for MKG to get his hands dirty.
Power Forward
Clint Capela ($12,250)
Clint Capela had his best game of his career last time out against Rudy Gobert and the Utah Jazz and he’ll be looking to back it up against Andre Drummond. His early season foul troubles are behind him and he is even beginning to hit his free throws. Playing next to James Harden makes his role in the offense quite simple as all he does is lay the ball in. Throw in a couple of blocks and he will have a big game.
Jon Leuer ($8,350)
Leuer has finally carved out a consistent role for himself off the Detroit Pistons bench and he is averaging 10 points and nearly seven rebounds per game, numbers which are more than handy. He has a good matchup against the Rockets and his ability to play in small lineups should see him get extra minutes. If he finds his shooting stroke, he could be a key x-factor in the lineup.
Centre
Al Horford ($12,700)
The newly-acquired Boston big man is finally healthy after spending over a week in the NBA concussion protocol. In his first game back, Horford not only made the game winning bucket, but also had the game saving block. He won’t wow you with his production, but he is as safe as it gets in terms of fantasy and will be the rock of the lineup.
