NBA $5k Wednesday Best Buys
With just four games to choose from, identifying the key fantasy players is critical.
Here is a team you may consider for the NBA Tuesday $5K competition:
Point Guard
Damian Lillard ($17,950)
The Blazers are barely above .500 and for a team that was heavily fancied to do well the early part of the season hasn’t been great. The main reason they are even above .500 has come down to one man and that is Lillard. When they win he plays well and you can expect an up tempo game from the Blazers and Knicks which should mean Dame gets a lot of shots up. If the Blazers want to do anything this year they need to win these games so expect Lillard to go big.
Lou Williams ($9,600)
The young Lakers have been a surprise this season but the veteran play from 11 year player Lou Williams has been a major reason why the Lakers bench is one of the best in the league. Lou has been hot from downtown shooting 44% from deep and taking advantage of the oppositions second unit to put up big numbers in around 25 minutes a game. Expect more of the same against an OKC bench that has been struggling.
Shooting Guard
Dwyane Wade ($12,350)
Wade has returned to his hometown Chicago this season and been playing solid basketball as the second or third option in an efficient side entrenched in the top 5 in the east. Wade has relied more on his outside shot this season as well as being the main ball carrier if Butler and Rondo are taking a rest. As the Denver team focus their defensive efforts on other players, Wade should get the chance at some open shots and get to the free throw line for some cheap and easy points.
Kent Bazemore ($10,200)
Bazemore is much like the Atlanta Hawks team that he plays for in the way he goes about his business and gets the job done. He is quietly had the best start to a season in his career and is able to fill the stat sheet every time he gets out on the court. Against the young wing players at New Orleans he should be able to get to work and put up a nice stat line and get you 25+ points.
Small Forward
Wilson Chandler ($10,750)
With a few injuries in Denver to guards and small forwards, Chandler has seen a boost in his minutes in the last 5 games, and as a result has seen a spike in production. With averages of 18.8 points and 8.8 rebounds over his last 5 games he is a must have at this price. He has had the three ball going in the last couple of games and if this keeps up he will again produce a nice point total while grabbing boards and contributing on the defensive end.
Kyle Korver ($7,200)
The sniper from deep has struggled over his last few games but you can expect that to change against a young and struggling Pelicans team. When the Hawks get Korver his shots he can contribute big time as he will hit triples and free throws with ease. You would think that if the Pelicans collapse on the inside to stop Dwight Howard and Paul Millsap then Korver will get free shots from deep and if he can get up 10 to 12 shots in the game he could have a big night.
Power Forward
Julius Randle ($12,050)
The young big man from the Lakers has been exciting so far this season and seems to be enjoying his basketball more and more as the team is playing well. Randle is averaging close to a double-double so far this season and his improvement in playmaking from the post has allowed him to contribute in the assists column more than before. His shooting percentage has also seen a spike and with a triple double a couple of games ago he is riding high on confidence.
Kenneth Faried ($10,350)
You know exactly what you will get with Faried; hustle, energy and rebounds. While he didn’t start the season well he has improved as it has gone on and as a result is playing solid basketball over the last few games. The Nuggets have tried a few different starting combinations in the front court but Faried has grabbed his spot back and if he brings his usual energy he will deliver big in a lot of areas.
Centre
Mike Muscala ($6,850)
The big man has been surging of late as he was employed into the starting line up with the injury to Dwight Howard. While Howard has now recovered he will no doubt have a minute restriction so he does not flare up his quad injury. As a result Muscala could see around 20 minutes of action and if he can keep up his recent averages over his last 5 games of 9.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 52% field goal and 42% from deep he will be a steal at this price. The Pelicans are thin up front after Anthony Davis and Muscala should take advantage of a weak second unit.
