There are many different types of games that you can play on Draftstars, each of them having different qualities. Depending on your skill level and budget, Draftstars has a game for you. Draftstars offers games with huge cash prizes ($50,000 to be won on Sunday), but you might not have heard about the vast range of supporting games which you can also play. Here is a brief rundown of the different types of supporting games which Draftstars offers.

HOW TO PLAY

Beat the Star

Draftstars gives you the opportunity to take on a celebrity and teach them a thing or two about the game. For the next few weeks, Barry Hall and Wendell Sailor will be the Stars picking their teams for every match of AFL and NRL respectively and if you beat them, you will share in the prize. There are three types of games that Draftstars will be running as part of Beat the Star. There will be a free entry with a prize ($10,000 for Barry and $5,000 for Wendell). Unfortunately, due to legislation, residents of NSW and SA are ineligible from these games. There will also be free games with no prizes and paid games with prizes which everyone can enter. Beat the Star has two main strategies; you can either pick the lineup you think will score the best, or because the Star’s team will be published, you can pick mostly the same players as the star and change one or two players in the lineup.

Freerolls

There are a range of free games to get you started on your Draftstars journey. Free game are great because you can experience the thrill of the game, without having to risk your own money. Free games are great to get you comfortable with picking a team, and best of all, most of them have cash prizes.

Turbos

The game type of perfect for people who do not know the ins and outs of every team in the league. You do not have to worry about salary caps, just simply pick one player from each group and if you’re team scores well, you will be in the money. It is so easy to play, you can have your team picked in under a minute. The best strategy for these games is to pick the best players!

Beginner Games

Draftstars offer both salary and turbo games which can only be entered by players who have played under 25 total games. This is a great way to be introduced to Draftstars, keeping you away from the better players on the site. It gives you an opportunity to learn and to make money in easy mode. By the time you have played your 25 games, you should be ready to take on the ‘big boys’.

Multipliers

Double Ups and Triple Up are types of salary games that Draftstars offer. They are lower risk games types where you either double or triple your money depending on where you finish. In a Double Up, the top 45 % of entrants will double their money and in a triple up, the top 30% of entrants will triple their money. These type of games are perfect for people who are looking to hone their craft and build their bank. It is better to enter ‘safe’ lineup into these games, with not too many risky selections. The payout is the exact same if you finish at the top of the leaderboard or the bottom of the paid positions.

Head to Heads

The truest test of your fantasy skills, mano-a-mano. Take on your mate, or some stranger on the internet to compete for glory. Games range from as little as $1, or as much as $500. Head to Heads are also great because they have the lowest take out rate on the site at 5%, meaning you get the most bang for your buck. Be careful though, because these games are not guaranteed, if they do not fill before the start of the match, they will be cancelled and you will be refunded.

6 Mans

Do you think it is too hard to beat hundreds of other people in bigger games? The beauty of a 6-man is that there are only ever five other people that you have to beat. With the top two getting a payout, if you stick to your strategy and make good decisions, the money is well within your reach.

Targets

If you think that your team can get to a certain score, the target game is the perfect one for you. The target is set at 800 for single match games and 880 for a game that covers multiple matches. Every lineup that scores over that mark will share the prize. In order for you to crack the target, you need to find cheaper players that will score somewhere near 10-12 points for every thousand dollars of salary they cost and then also find some really high scorers at the top of the salaries. These games are more risky, however if you can crack the target, you will be rewarded with a bigger payday.

Minis

If you want the thrill of a feature game, but don’t want to spend $15 to enter it, the Mini is the perfect game type for you. Entry is $2 and you can win some serious cash if you win the whole thing. Normally the top 20% of entrants will be in the prizemoney, so it is more risky than a multiplier game, but for $2 it is well worth a shot. The best strategy for mini games is to take a few calculated risks. You need to be different to be at the top of the leaderboard, look for value in team changes or players who you think will outperform their salary.

The Big 990

Do you think the lineup you have selected is perfect? It nearly has to be to score 990, but it is definitely not impossible. There have already been two scores over 990 in the first two weeks of the season, with one of them taking home $8,898 in the Big 990 target game. This game is not designed to be easy, but for $1 entry, you can enter a lineup and if you hit the target you can win a huge amount of money. In the NBA equivalent of this game type, The Big 400, one user was lucky enough to take home over $15,500 from a $1 buy in.
