Here is a team you may consider for the NBA $4k+ Tuesday competition

Point Guard

Jrue Holiday ($13,650)

Jrue Holiday is a gamble here. The safe option is Russell Westbrook, but at over $23k, it’s worth saving the money and gambling on Holiday. The Pelicans point guard comes up against a New York Knicks defence that concedes nearly 109 points per game, which should allow plenty of opportunity for Holiday to put up points and assists. He came up against the Knicks on New Year’s Eve and had a return of 39.75 fantasy points. If he can produce this again, you won’t regret risking the cheaper Holiday.

Michael Carter-Williams ($6,350)

To round out the backcourt of former 76ers, Michael Carter-Williams presents an intriguing option for Tuesday’s contest. Rajon Rondo has fallen out of the Chicago Bulls rotation and MCW has taken his place. Carter-Williams has averaged over 30 Draftstars points in each of his first two seasons starting and with starters’ minutes, he should be able to push this mark against OKC. The Thunder will look to push the pace, which should play right into Carter-Williams’ hands, giving him ample opportunity to rack up points, rebounds and assists.

Shooting Guard

Victor Oladipo ($11,300)

Seeing as we’re not picking Russell Westbrook, we’ll back in Victor Oladipo to have a big game against Chicago. The former number-two draft pick has been excellent so far this season and offers the ability to collect fantasy points in a variety of ways. Not only does he score consistently, but he can shoot threes, rebound, pass and steal. This gives Oladipo a huge ceiling, which has been shown with multiple 40+ scores this season.

Buddy Hield ($7,250)

After going through some serious growing pains to start the year, Hield has really started to find his form for the Pelicans. In his last six games, he’s averaging nearly 15 points and 4 rebounds which has resulted in three 30+ fantasy scores. Up against a New York defence that will have the likes of Derrick Rose and Brandon Jennings guarding him, Hield could be in for another big score. At just over $7k, he’s too good to refuse.

Small Forward

Harrison Barnes ($11,700)

Barnes has enjoyed a solid season as the go-to-guy for the Mavs and has only improved since Dirk Nowitzki returned to the line-up. Barnes hasn’t dipped under 30 fantasy points in his last five matchups and even scored 42.50 fantasy points against the Wizards. Coming up against a porous Minnesota defence, Barnes should have a field day, racking up points, rebounds and threes for your fantasy team.

Doug McDermott ($6,000)

Similarly to Buddy Hield, at $6,000, McDermott is hard to pass up. Coach Fred Hoiberg has finally begun to utilise the post game that McDermott was so successful using in college, with ‘Dougie McBuckets’ often posting up mismatched point guards. This has led to more time under the basket (and subsequently more rebounds) for the former Creighton Bluejay. In his last two games, he’s recorded his two best fantasy scores of the year and there is no reason why that won’t continue against OKC on Tuesday.

Power Forward

Anthony Davis ($20,450)

Now we get to the reason why Russell Westbrook wasn’t picked – Anthony Davis is a monster. He comes up against a Knicks frontline that is currently splitting minutes between Joakim Noah, Kyle O’Quinn and Willy Hernangomez, none of whom have any hope of guarding AD. Coming off a 36-point, 15-rebound performance against Boston, Davis will be raring to go, with the incentive of a playoff berth suddenly in reach for the Pels. I’m expecting Davis to go huge in this one, with another 60-point performance possibly on the cards.

Donatas Motiejunas ($5,000)

Motiejunas played his first game in New Orleans colours on Sunday and looked perfectly fine for his new team. He posted a statline of 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in his 20 minutes of action which resulted in 25.5 fantasy points. There’s plenty of risk in selecting DMo and there’s no guarantee he’ll be in the rotation against New York, but with just three games to choose from and at just $5k, if he can give you anything close to 20 points, he’ll be a huge steal.

Centre

Karl-Anthony Towns ($17,500)

Huge expectations were placed on the young Timberwolf going into the season and for the most part, Towns has met them pretty well. He’ll face a weak Dallas frontline featuring Dirk Nowitzki at Center and Harrison Barnes at power forward. This is not exactly an ideal combination to defend one of the most precocious big-man talents in the league and Towns should take full advantage. His best scores this season have come against similarly weak interior defence (Houston without Capela, Denver, Philly, New York) and as such, it would be surprising if Towns doesn’t get to at least the 50 point mark against the Mavs.
