NBA $5,000+ Monday Line-Up Suggestions
Monday’s NBA offering has five games on deck and as always Draftstars have a $5K competition for us to get stuck into. With only 10 teams it means that the talent pool is a little bit thinner than normal. However, there is plenty of value to make sure that your team is a successful one.
Here is a team you may consider for the NBA $5k+ Monday competition
Point Guard
Kyle Lowry ($15,650)
In Kyle Lowry’s last 11 games he has scored at least three three-pointers which is crucial for his Draftstars production. Against an Orlando Magic side currently struggling on the defensive side of the ball, Lowry will continue to shine and as one of the few studs in play, he is a must-have.
T.J. McConnell ($5,250)
T.J. McConnell is in basically a “job-share” with Sergio Rodriguez for the Philadelphia point guard position while they keep the seat warm for Ben Simmons. Considering that McConnell is nearly $4K cheaper than Rodriguez and performing similarly, he is worth the plug into your lineup.
Shooting Guard
Tyler Johnson ($8,850)
Tyler Johnson missed out last start with an illness and if he isn’t good to go then James Johnson ($7,400) should be slotted in here. However, Tyler is averaging 34 minutes in the month of December and getting plenty of opportunities off the bench to initiate the offense. He is too good to pass up.
Tony Allen ($7,300)
Memphis and Utah would be considered two of the best defensive teams in the NBA and no one loves defence more than Tony Allen. In what will be a scrappy game, Allen will be buzzing around grabbing boards and getting his hands in the passing lanes. If he can hit double digits in scoring, then it will be a productive fantasy performance from the Grindfather.
Small Forward
Kawhi Leonard ($15,600)
The MVP candidate just gets better every game and adds something to his offensive repertoire in every match. Then add in the fact that he is the best perimeter defender in the NBA and you have a superstar. That translates to the fantasy land as well where he does it all. Lock him into your sides.
Bojan Bogdanovic ($8,400)
A true speculative pick, but a matchup against the 76ers is the perfect spot to be speculative. Bogdanovic doesn’t do many things well on a basketball court, but what he does do well is shoot the three. He can be hot and cold, but put him in and if he explodes, we’re all going to be sitting here looking like geniuses with Bogdanovic in our lineups.
Power Forward
Al Horford ($13,200)
The Celtics big man is starting to find his groove and he is just ultra-consistent. Over the past six games he has added another facet to his game as he has averaged 6.3 assists per game. Coupled with his strong defensive stats and double digit scoring, Horford should be in for another big game against the Miami Heat.
Nikola Vucevic ($12,450)
Despite Vucevic now coming off the bench for the Orlando Magic, he is still performing like a fantasy star. In his first game back from a three-game absence, he put up 21 points with 10 rebounds, resulting in a 48-point fantasy performance. A repeat showing is not out of the question and he is severely underpriced.
Centre
Pau Gasol ($12,850)
The future Hall of Famer is starting to find his groove within the San Antonio system and he will get a nice matchup to exploit in the hapless New Orleans Pelicans. His December averages in both points and rebounding are significantly higher than his season averages as well. Lock Gasol in and enjoy him going to work.
