NBA $5,000+ Monday Best Buys
Monday’s NBA slate sees five games on deck with the feature game undoubtedly between the Timberwolves and the Warriors. As always, Draftstars has a $5K contest to get your week started on the right foot. With Russell Westbrook in action, will he get his eighth straight triple-double?
Here is a team you may consider for the NBA $5k+ Monday competition
Point Guard
Sergio Rodriguez ($9,700)
The Spanish point guard is starting to find is role in the 76ers starting five and his play has noticeably improved. He has been over 30 fantasy points in three of his last four which makes him good value at the price. With his opponent Reggie Jackson still finding full fitness, it looks like a good spot for Rodriguez.
Zach LaVine ($10,550)
The exciting Minnesota shooting guard tends to save his best for the Warriors and last time they met he scored 31 points and contributed 41 fantasy points. With an average close to 30 fantasy points per game, LaVine is showing that he is much more than a dunker and capable of contributing to a winning team
Shooting Guard
Devin Booker ($11,700)
While many predicted Booker to have a breakout season this year, it hasn’t fully materialised to the level many expected. Coming into this contest with the Pelicans, Booker is in somewhat of a slump but the Pelicans defence should be the perfect remedy for Booker to get his season back on track.
Langston Galloway ($6,450)
With injuries to Jrue Holiday and E’Twaun Moore, Galloway has been given the opportunity to take control of the second unit over the past two games and he has done it with aplomb. Averaging 31 fantasy points in his past two contests, Galloway is in hot shooting form and will get plenty of opportunities against a Phoenix side that is allergic to defending the basket.
Small Forward
Kevin Durant ($17,900)
Last time Durant faced the Timberwolves, he went off for 61 fantasy points in a performance which included six blocks. The Timberwolves do not have a true matchup for him defensively as he will likely be opposed to Gorgui Dieng who just can’t keep up with him. Expect Durant to explode as the Timberwolves will hang around longer than expected.
Marcus Morris ($9,350)
Marcus Morris has found his three-point stroke of late which is huge for his Draftstars potential. Against the 76ers, he is going to get plenty of open looks to continue his hot shooting form. That means that his owners will be desperate for him to crash the boards and steal some rebounds off Andre Drummond.
Power Forward
Ersan Ilyasova ($8,300)
The veteran is winding the clock back and is almost in career-best form. He has scored over 17 points in his last four games which has resulted in some incredible fantasy performances including a 57-point outing two contests ago. A notable element of that performance, Joel Embiid was out and he will not be playing in this contest either. Lock Ersan in.
Jon Leuer ($8,050)
Jon Leuer is definitely not the most exciting player that will ever grace your team but he is one thing: consistent. Averaging just under seven rebounds per game off the bench, Leuer will get plenty of run against the 76ers in a match that might be a blow out which will boost his minutes. He is definitely worth a play at the price.
Centre
Karl-Anthony Towns ($16,850)
KAT is one of the most exciting players in the NBA and it is hard to believe that he is only in his second season. By Towns’ standards, he has been disappointing in his past three outings and it is in his character to bounce back from poor performances and there is no better team to do it against than the Golden State Warriors. The Timberwolves tend to perform their best against the good teams and that will be because of KAT.
