NBA $8,000 Wednesday Line-Up
There are five games on the card for our DraftStars NBA $8k+ contest, and taking advantage of some of the weaker teams looks to be the best option for today. There’s a shade of red in our line-up for today, with Chicago, Miami and Houston featuring heavily.
Here is a team you may consider for the NBA $8k+ Wednesday competition
Point Guard
Kyle Lowry ($16,650)
Lowry comes up against a shambolic Brooklyn defence, having picked up 44 fantasy points against them just two matches ago. He is far cheaper than James Harden, and there is a real possibility he picks up a double-double here. There’s still uncertainty surrounding the point guard position at the Nets, which only serves to improve Lowry’s chances of going big.
Tyler Johnson ($10,250)
Regardless of whether he is coming off the bench or not, Johnson is getting 30 minutes per game and is clearly a top scoring option for the Heat. After a couple of off games, he has hit the 33 fantasy point mark in his last two matches, against Golden State and Milwaukee, and he’ll look to take advantage of a slightly out-of-form Houston defence.
Shooting Guard
Dwyane Wade ($11,450)
The veteran guard has been great since moving to the Bulls, and has hit 22 points in each of his last three games. This consistency has resulted in good fantasy output, which is welcomed at a cheaper price. While the Mavs look to have found their mojo in recent times, there’s still a sense of major inconsistency within the group. Chicago hasn’t been great either, but a player like Wade can still dominate.
Joe Harris ($5,400)
Harris is a cheap option worth considering for your teams on Wednesday. He has seen an uptick of minutes over the past three matches, and has gotten around 20 fantasy points in each contest. With Jeremy Lin still missing, and Kilpatrick back on the bench, this match gives Harris a good chance to prove his worth to the team and have a better, all-round game.
Small Forward
Jimmy Butler ($17,700)
Butler has to be the best option of the day, having fully recovered from an illness that limited him to just one point against OKC. He has improved his all-round game to a level far beyond what people would’ve expected this season, and his ability to pick up fantasy scores of 60+ relatively easily makes him a superb option. He had an average match against Dallas earlier in the season and still picked up 40+ fantasy points.
Dion Waiters ($9,400)
The best value selection of the day, Dion Waiters is starting again after an injury to Josh Richardson, and has seen 69 minutes on court over his past two matches. While his shooting is off at the moment, taking the risk and hoping he hits his shots against the Rockets is a good move. He was hitting fantasy scores of 30-40 during November, and he has the opportunity to regain some of that form against Houston.
Power Forward
Nikola Jokic ($13,400)
The big man from Denver has been the NBA’s breakout star this season, continuing to impress with his ability to have an impact in all categories. His passing is fantastic for a player of his position, and he continues to push for that elusive triple-double. Jokic dominated the Magic yesterday with a career-high 30 points, and he can pick up another 50+ fantasy points against the Lakers.
Montrezl Harrell ($6,850)
Harrell continues to be the best cheaper option in DraftStars contests, and having picked up 30 fantasy points against Brooklyn last match, he looks to have his confidence back up. The minutes he receives will vary, but the impending return of Clint Capela will provide enough motivation for Harrell to put out a good performance against the Heat.
Centre
Taj Gibson ($8,800)
The Bulls will need to rebound well against the Mavericks, and Gibson is finding some form. His last two performances have been exactly what the team needs, and his advantage against the Mavericks will be his greater mobility compared to Dallas’ bigs. Coming in at a cheap price, Gibson is a great fantasy option for Wednesday, and he has a real chance at hitting 30+ fantasy points again.
