NBA $9,000+ Wednesday Line-Up
We have a huge 11 games on offer for Wednesday’s $9K competition to get stuck into. That means a deep talent pool, and where there is talent, there is value.
Here is a team you may consider for the NBA $9k+ Wednesday competition
Point Guard
Kyle Lowry ($15,650)
Despite teammate DeMar DeRozan stealing the show early in the season, it is Lowry that has propelled the Raptors to the all-time great offense they currently possess. The perennially-underrated point guard is currently averaging over 21 points and 7 assists whilst shooting a red-hot 45.5% from downtown. On Wednesday he will face the Brooklyn Nets, who not only have the third worst defence in the league but also play at the fastest pace, meaning plenty of opportunities for Lowry to score. When playing against other top-five teams in pace, Lowry hasn’t dropped below 40 Draftstars fantasy points in four starts.
Lou Williams ($10,650)
Injuries to Julius Randle, Jose Calderon and especially D’Angelo Russell mean that Lou Williams will be called upon to play an even larger role for the Lakers. The 6th man of the year favourite has been incredible this season, propelling the Lakers bench to league-leading in points per game. His 18.9 points – along with 3.3 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 2 made threes per game – are pivotal, and will be even more so, with just him, Jordan Clarkson and Nick Young left in the LA backcourt.
Shooting Guard
Kawhi Leonard ($15,600)
The Spurs main man has been incredible so far this season, improving once again on the offensive end. This has resulted in 24.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2 steals and over 40 Draftstars points per game. Against a raging Houston team – with a 10-game win streak that Leonard and the Spurs will be desperate to end – Leonard should be even better. He is one of the most consistent wings around, going under 30 fantasy points just three times whilst still managing to break 40 points on 16 occasions (including all of his last five games). Lock him in to win the battle with Harden.
Garrett Temple ($5,350)
Perhaps the least ‘sexy’ selection possible, Temple is simply too good to ignore at the moment. Getting the starting nod in the last three games, Temple has put up 17.7 points, 3.3 assists and 3 rebounds per game while also hitting 10 threes in that time. This has resulted in an average of 30.08 Draftstars points per game. Not bad for a guy that will set you back a tick over $5,000.
Small Forward
Thaddeus Young ($9,850)
Picking Thad Young is a pure upside pick. It’s incredibly risky, but it could be exactly what you need to take home a share of the $9k this Wednesday. Young hasn’t exactly set the world alight in his move from Brooklyn to Indiana, but he has plenty of potential to score huge against the Knicks. He can stuff the stat sheet with an innate ability to not just score and crash the boards but to collect steals and blocks and hit the three ball. He scored 51.75 against Portland recently and may put up similar numbers against the Knicks.
Luol Deng ($7,600)
After some early teething problems, Deng has finally found his feet in Purple and Gold, seeing a huge uptick in his minutes with Julius Randle and Brandon Ingram injured. In his last six games, he has averaged just over 32 minutes a game, putting up 28.4 fantasy points in that time.
Power Forward
Kevin Love ($15,150)
The championship-winning power forward is enjoying his finest year in Cleveland colours so far, averaging over 22 points and 11 rebounds. His recent form is even more impressive, scoring over 50 Draftstars points in four of his last six contests thanks to his 25.8 points and 11.5 rebounds in that time. Against Milwaukee, Love should be able to take advantage of the Jabari Parker, Greg Monroe and John Henson frontcourt trio’s defence (or lack thereof) and further his form trend.
Terrence Jones ($6,750)
Jones has been an excellent addition to the Pelicans frontcourt this year after they got him on a bargain minimum deal this year. He comes up against the Philadelphia 76ers – who are terrible defensively – meaning that he should be able to capitalise nicely for our teams. He’s coming off scores of 26.25, 31 and 25.5 in his last three outings, meaning he is an excellent bargain option for our teams (and the Pelicans).
Centre
Marc Gasol ($12,550)
The heart and soul of the Grizzlies should only be better with his playmate Mike Conley back in the lineup. Not that he needs to though, the Grizzlies big man and frontrunner for All-NBA First Team Centre has scored over 40 Draftstars points in seven of his last eight outings. Add in the free points that will come from the facilitation Conley provides and the extra attention he draws and Gasol is in for a big one against a Celtics front line that lacks size.
