The final week of the regular season in the NFL is sure to throw some curve balls given its impending unpredictability. Teams firming for a playoff run may choose to rest their players, whilst others may be looking to solidify their position in next year’s draft following a poor season. Either way, it make’s selecting a team a bit more difficult.

Quarterback

Russell Wilson ($14,000)

As Seattle firm for another playoff run, Wilson has continued to be the cornerstone of Seahawks’ offensive unit. His 350 yards and four touchdowns last week against Arizona was one of his best performances of the season. It’s a good chance Wilson will have another big day in Week 17 against a San Francisco team who allow the most fantasy points to the opposition’s quarterback this season.

Running Back

LeSean McCoy ($13,150)

With Le’Veon Bell likely to be rested for part, if not all of this game of the game, McCoy presents the best value at running back this week. He’s averaging 27.14 points per game over the past five weeks, and has eclipsed 100 scrimmage yards and recorded six touchdowns across that stretch. McCoy should see a similar level of production this week against the New York Jets, who allow an average of over 100 rushing yards per game this season.

Running Back

Jordan Howard ($11,700)

In his last eight games Howard has only had a low of 99 scrimmage yards, and has become arguable the second best rookie running back this season after the NFL’s leading rusher in Ezekiel Elliott. Chicago travel to Minnesota this week to round out the season, and in their last matchup against the Vikings Howard rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown, registering a season high 30.20 points.

Wide Receiver

Odell Beckham Jr ($16,450)

Beckham Jr has been his usual scintillating self in recent times, hauling in 504 yards and four touchdowns in his previous five games. The Giants have made the playoffs, yet still have something to play for in terms of their Wild Card seed. They play Washington’s 27th ranked pass defence this week, where Beckham Jr will come up against bitter foe Josh Norman, and will be looking to get the better of his rival after Norman got the better of him last season.

Wide Receiver

Doug Baldwin ($11,950)

Last week, Baldwin caught 13 catches for 171 yards against Arizona, and while he didn’t find the end zone still yielded 36.70 points. He’ll likely reproduce a similar effort against a San Francisco’s defence who have allowed in a league-high 30.3 points per game.

Tight End

Charles Clay ($8,000)

Clay has found the end zone four times in his last three games, eclipsing the 20 point mark in two of those. As one of the Bills’ more established receiving options, Clay could feature even more in Week 17 following Rex Ryan’s removal as head coach. The Bills take on the Jets this week, who have allowed 30 passing touchdowns this season.

Flex

DeSean Jackson ($10,350)

Jackson loves to play the New York Giants, and gets another opportunity to shine against them once again in Week 17. It’s a crucial matchup for the Redskins, who still have a chance to make the playoffs, meaning Jackson will again play an integral role on offense having surpassed 100 yards in four of his past five games.

Flex

Cameron Meredith ($7,400)

Having scored a touchdown and topped 100 yards in three straight games, Meredith enters Week 17 one of the most in-form receivers in the league. In those three appearances, he has seen 33 targets as one of Matt Barkley’s more favoured receiving options. Once one of the league’s best defences, Minnesota have regressed significantly toward the end of the season, and have allowed six touchdown passes in the last two weeks.

Defense

Pittsburgh Steelers ($7,000)

The Steelers defence enter Week 17 having recorded at least one interception in each of the last eight games, and face a favourable matchup this week against Cleveland. In their earlier encounter against the Browns this year, Pittsburgh’s defensive unit recorded eight sacks and restricted their opposition to just nine points.
