NFL $6,000 Monday Best Buys
A mammoth 13 games on NFL’s premier day of action provides plenty of options for Draftstars’ NFL $6k Monday competition. It’s another make or break game for some teams, whose playoff aspirations hang by a thread. Regardless, Week 13’s NFL action is sure to be one full of strong performances.
Here is a team for the NFL $6k Monday competition for you to consider:
Quarterback
Colin Kaepernick ($15,950)
Kaepernick has enjoyed a renaissance as quarterback since resuming starting duties for the 49ers, averaging over 20 points this year. His best game of the season was his performance last week against Miami, where he threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns while also adding 113 rushing yards to his game. He faces Chicago’s defence this week which has allowed the 16th total yardage to opposing quarterbacks this season – suggesting his rich form could continue.
Running Back
David Johnson ($22,500)
Almost a quarter of the budget has been used to purchase Johnson; but for good reason. Following his 160 all-purpose yard week against the Falcons – where he also caught a touchdown, Johnson faces Washington, who have allowed the 25th-most points to the running back position this year. With four games above 30 points on the year, including two in the past fortnight, Johnson’s production won’t regress in Week 13 as he’ll look to make it 12 straight games above 100 total yards.
Doug Martin ($10,100)
As many assumed, Martin’s return from injury has slightly stagnated his production, however now after a few weeks back, he’s primed to return a high work load against the Chargers. While San Diego allow the fourth-fewest rushing yards to running backs, they have allowed 14 rushing touchdowns – the second most in the league.
Wide Receiver
Doug Baldwin ($13,750)
Baldwin had his worst performance in the second half of this season last week as Seattle’s offense didn’t really get going in Tampa Bay, however a favourable matchup this week could change that. Carolina, the Seahawks’ opposition, have struggled all year in the secondary since the departure of Josh Norman.
Mohammed Sanu ($8,100)
Despite only recording 12 receiving yards last week, Sanu could find more yardage against Kansas City whose secondary are in the bottom 10 in the league. His real production as a receiver is with receptions – with eight last week. While it’s likely he’ll continue to have small yardage figures with the dominance of Julio Jones and emergence of Tyler Gabriel, Sanu is the perfect slot receiver option for Matt Ryan when moving the chains.
Tight End
Vance McDonald ($7,100)
Since Kaepernick assumed the number one job in San Francisco, McDonald’s work rate has increased each week. Last week’s performance yielded 80 yards from four receptions, giving him 240 yards and two touchdowns over the past five games. He could improve once more against Chicago’s defence which ranks 11th in total yardage to tight ends.
Flex
Anquan Boldin ($9,300)
With two touchdowns and a total of 22 targets over the past three weeks, Boldin has emerged as a legitimate target for Matthew Stafford as Detroit marches atop the NFC North. With a matchup with the league’s 27th ranked pass defence in New Orleans, Boldin is in decent form and a cheaper option worth considering.
Malcolm Mitchell ($5,600)
Mitchell has progressed incredibly over the past fortnight having hauled in three touchdowns over this period. With Rob Gronkowski again in doubt, Mitchell will likely post similar numbers as a constant red zone threat. His previous two weeks have produced a total of 41 points, and a matchup against the LA Rams, who conceded five passing touchdowns to New Orleans last week, suggests big numbers again for Mitchell.
Defense
Arizona Cardinals ($6,350)
The Cardinals have struggled in recent weeks, allowing an average of 26 points across the last three games. Yet Arizona is the league’s top ranked defence for a reason, and should they contain Washington on special teams, they could score well in Week 13. Kirk Cousins has looked every part a rock star over the past fortnight, but faces his potentially his biggest challenge of the year.
