Here is a team you may consider for the NRL $10k+ Saturday competition

Front Row Forward

Jarrod Wallace ($9,650)

Wallace looks likely to start in the front row with Ryan James this season which will give him some decent fantasy upside. Titans’ front rowers have averaged 49 minutes over the last three years and with all the injuries and exits at the Gold Coast, Jarrod Wallace is assured 50 minutes-plus and is therefore a great mid-range buy. Having position flexibility is definitely going to help his points and he should get to the high 30s average. Not the worst way to spend your money.

James Tamou ($13,150)

James Tamou averaged around 25 tackles in each of the last three seasons and his run metres have been between 120 to 140 metres per game. Note that he has consistently increased his discipline on the field and hence has slightly decreased his errors. Providing James plays around 45 minutes he should get decent points.

Hooker

Jake Friend ($18,250)

Jake Friend saw his fantasy average take a big jump thanks mostly to his increase in minutes last year. He played 80 minutes in 15 of his 24 games and got through a ton of tackles and try-assists in those games. It could be argued that with Connor Watson and/or Matterson grabbing a utility spot on the bench – his minutes could be reduced. However, the fact that Taukeiaho is missing the start of the season, the utility will slot in at lock. Friend will shine.

bryce cartwright

Second Row Forward

Bryce Cartwright ($15,850)

The Panthers have a very soft draw to start the year playing against the Dragons and although Cartwright will probably be back at second row this season he will be raring to truck up the ball. He averaged around 75 minutes per game last year and with those sort of minutes – he has to be picked. Also, let’s not forget he was immense for the Panthers last season – watch out for his class in the latter stages of the game. A grubber kick to set up a try perhaps?

Zane Tetevano ($5,000)

Tetevano comes into this game after being in the NSW Cup team of the year and with Taukeiaho out injured Tetevano could be the beneficiary. Isaac Liu will likely start at lock but there will still be 30-40 minutes available for Zane.

Centre

Konrad Hurrell ($10,300)

Konrad can be an influential player and had a massive year at the Gold Coast Titans last season. At the New Zealand Warriors, Konrad was averaging under 15 points however that jumped up to low 40s towards the latter end of the season. He is the kind of tackle-breaking try-scorer who can thrive in fantasy when at his best. Seeing that Gold Coast are a bit thin on the outside backs – Konrad will be given plenty of opportunities.

Half

Kane Elgey ($6,600)

Kane Elgey is very hard to turn down at this price and the main reason is because he missed the 2016 season through an ACL injury. He signed with the Titans in 2015 and scored six tries from 16 games in his debut season; pretty impressive considering he’s a halfback. After sitting out on the sidelines for a whole season, Kane will be ready to go. Keep in mind – he has Dual Position advantages and is capable of goal-kicking if need be.

Wing/Fullback

Matt Moylan ($12,200)

Moylan has been a model of consistency the last three years with year-end averages that vary by just 0.17 points. He’s not the explosive sort of fullback that we love watching, however he is perfect for Fantasy as he is more of a distributor and that’s highlighted in his try assists (18) and line break assists (22).

Jarryd Hayne ($6,900)

Hayne is underpriced for a player of his caliber and his Dual Position status puts the icing on the cake. In his previous NRL season with the Eels in 2014 he averaged a whopping 62 on the way to a Dally M medal. Last season he arrived as the marquee man but could only put in an underwhelming season. A full pre-season under him he should be good to go. A Cash Cow if there ever was one.
