NRL $1,500+ Sharks v Rabbitohs

The Sharks and the Rabbitohs face off on Friday night at Shark Park in an important clash for both clubs. The Sharks are tough to get a handle on at the moment after getting smashed by the Gold Coast in miserable conditions just one week after beating the Roosters by 32 points. Inconsistency has been the theme of the Bunnies season as well and there is no telling what sort of performance they will put in on any given night.

Here is a team you may consider for the NRL $1,500+ Sharks v Rabbitohs competition

Front Row Forward

Paul Gallen ($17,450)

Gal put in a massive 80-minute performance in wet conditions on the Gold Coast last week, ending up with 202 metres from 23 runs and an unbelievable 51 tackles from 52 attempts. In a losing cause, Gallen was clearly the Sharks best performer and he will be wanting to have a similar impact against the Rabbits on Friday night. Despite being nearly 36-years old, Gallen is still one of the best middle forwards in the league and he will be relied upon heavily to stop the Burgess brothers and the rest of the South Sydney pack.

David Tyrrell ($8,650)

Since returning to the Bunnies side in round 17, Tyrrell has been solid for the Rabbitohs without having any game changing performances. This has largely been the story of his career and his role as a hard-working, blue collar player rarely comes with accolades. However in Draftstars, his propensity to make plenty of tackles makes him a viable option and at under $9k, he presents excellent value in a contest where cheap options are tough to come by.

Hooker

Fa’amanu Brown ($6,850)

Brown’s price tag alone will likely see him become one of the most selected players in this contest, but his performance last round was enough to suggest that he could be a valuable player for the Sharks at the pointy end of the season. Brown came desperately close to scoring a try last round and ended up with a line break, four tackle breaks and 35.85 Draftstars points in a solid outing from dummy-half. With James Segeyaro back in the side Brown will continue to see limited minutes, however given his recent form and his cheap price, he is still a great option in this contest.

Second Row Forward

Angus Crichton ($17,150)

Crichton has been absolutely unstoppable recently and has shown why he is touted as one of the best young prospects in the competition. His running game is phenomenal and he already sits first among all forwards in tackle breaks with 5.25 per game. His ability to bust through tackles makes him a massive threat close to the try line and this has seen him score seven tries this season including an impressive hat-trick against the Titans. He is in wonderful form and his performance will undoubtedly be pivotal to the Bunnies’ chances of coming away with a victory.

Matt Prior ($9,950)

Prior has flown under the radar once again this season, putting in consistent performances without any praise. He’s averaging 97 metres and 26.8 tackles per game this season and always puts the team ahead of himself. Coming up against South Sydney, who like to use their big forwards to eat metres through the middle, Prior will once again be called upon to make plenty of tackles which should result in a handy Draftstars score.

Centre

Jack Bird ($10,950)

Bird returns to the centres this week after filling in for James Maloney at five-eighth against the Titans. In his last three games in the centres Bird’s running game has been great, averaging 99 metres and breaking 18 tackles in that time. The Rabbitohs have struggled to defend powerful ball runners out wide this season and Bird will be looking to take advantage of any errors from South Sydney’s unfamiliar defensive combinations.

Half

James Maloney ($10,250)

After suffering yet another series defeat in Origin, Maloney will be looking to channel his anger into Friday night’s clash against the Rabbitohs. At club level Maloney has been in good form recently, recording three try assists in the last two games after not recording any since round two. To add to his playmaking, his running game has been better as well, and it saw him end up with a line break that ended up setting up a try last week.

Wing/Fullback

Bryson Goodwin ($10,400)

Despite having a slightly down performance last week, Goodwin has been massive for the Rabbitohs recently. His tackle breaking runs have been crucial to the Bunnies attack and oftentimes he is the only one who looks dangerous with the ball in hand. Since moving to the centres this season, Goodwin has scored five tries and has averaged five tackle breaks and 103.2 metres gained per game. Given his current form, there is no doubt the Rabbitohs will be looking for him to do plenty of ball running once again on Friday night.

Sosaia Feki ($8,250)

Feki has been dangerous on the wing for the Sharks this season, leading the club in tries and line breaks and showing off his wonderful finishing ability. Over the last two seasons, Feki has played 40 games and has scored 24 tries which results in a brilliant strike rate of 0.6. Given that the Sharks should win this game, there is every chance Feki adds to this streak and that he ends up with an impressive Draftstars score.
